A grand mansion looms before you. Bare, skeletal trees circle it, thin beams of moonlight filtering through their branches. Tentatively, you take a step forward, beginning your ascent up the front stairs. Boards creaking beneath you, you nudge the door open.
A dark shape skitters at the edge of your vision, and you startle. Why had you come here again? To be scared senseless? That was when you spotted the tablet. Though it was covered in a thin layer of dust, the tablet was very out of place in an old, decrepit mansion such as this one. As soon as you picked it up, the screen lit up. Words soon appear, and against your better judgement, you read them.

Hello, and welcome to the Spoophouse! Before I say anything more, please don’t be alarmed!
You see, there are these creatures called Spoopies. In fact, you’re standing in one of their communal dens.
Despite what you may think, they’re very friendly – most of them, at least. They come out in the month of
October, crossing the border between the afterlife and reality. Spoopies roam around at night, since sunlight
tends to hurt their eyes, but they aren’t beyond being active during the daytime.
Once you see one, you’re going to notice the ghost-like tails they have; don’t be fooled! Their tails actually
are ghosts. The goofy, grinning dogs you’ll see are merely vessels. A Spoopy’s personality and abilities are
often determined by the ghost that has possessed them. See [here] for a detailed guide on ghost types.
Just to let you know, Spoopies really enjoy human company! They develop strong bonds with us, and once
the bond is in place, they are able to remain in our world for a lot longer. The afterlife tends to get boring
after so long. Hopefully you’re able to take one home by the end of the month. By the time you’re done
reading this, I’m sure you’re going to meet one of these lovely Spoopies! I wish you luck!
