Welcome to Hippocampi Depths, home to the mythical Hippocampus

Hippocampi are mythical sea horses with the head and body of a horse and the tail of a fish. They were once thought to be extinct but after many years we finally found a few breedings pairs. Most of the Hippocampis we have for adoption were born in captivity and were cross bred to regular horses to increase their numbers faster. This also led to most of them having more natural horse coats however, our hunt for Hippocampis has not ended yet and we hope to find more wild hippocampis which we will be able to adopt out increasing chances of fish bases spreading. Hippocampis are not measured in hands like regular horses they are infact measured in metres from nose to tail, with them averaging between 15 and 30 metres. It is not uncommon to see them outside of these lengths though.

- There is no adoption limit, but please be reasonable
- Do not criticise others adoptables/artwork unless asked
- Do not rush artists, if a breeding/customs takes more than 2 weeks pm me
- Do not ask for customs, they will be offered through post or stream
- No arguing! If there is an issue please contact me and I will deal with it accordingly
- Do not claim this species as your own!
- More will be added as I see fit

Artist rules:
- Only make Hippocampis that follow the colouration guidelines correctly
- If you want to make a very rare adopt pm me first
- I can help with genetics
- There is no 'quota' for how manh you need to make each week and you will not lose your artist position after months of inactivity
- You may make a custom for yourself after 20 adopts made
- If anyone rushes you or is particularly mean pm me and I will sort it
- You must use the form found below on all hippocampis

Colouration and Genetics:

Very Common:
Black, Chestnut, Bay, Brown, Overo, Splash, Dappples

Common:
Tobiano, Sabino, Dun, Flaxen, Silver, Reverse Splash, Rabicano

Uncommon:
Champagne, Cream, Roan, Brindle, Appaloosa, Pangare, Silver

Rare:
Sooty, Chimera, Fish Markings, Shark Markings, Manchado, Pearl, Grey, Double Cream

Very Rare:
Fish base, Shark Base, Dolphin Base, reverse brindle, Dominant white, Lacing/Cobweb, Double Pearl

Fish/Shark/Dolphin Base:
Gives the hippocampus a base colour that resembles a fish, shark or dolphin, they pass to offspring with 20% when one parent has it or 50% when both parents have it.

Fish/Shark Markings:
Gives the hippocampus a marking from a fish or shark, they can pass to offspring with 30% when one parent has it or 60% when both parents have it.

Mutations:

Albinism:
Covers the entire body in white and gives the hippo red or pink eyes. No markings will show || very rare - passes with 10%

Melanism:
Covers the entire body in black and gives the hippo blue eyes. No markings will show || very rare - passes with 10%

Liver Spots:
Dark brown or black spots found anywhere on the body || uncommon - passes with 30%

Vitiligo:
Urregular patches often slightly paler than the base colour found anywhere on the body || uncommon - passes with 30%
