Quetzalcatls, often shortened to just Catls, are a strange and elusive
breed of sand cats which have only recently been discovered.
Noted as docile and actually quite smart, they have been accepted
as companions and taken in to many people's homes. While
scientists are still studying them, they believe that they
had been created since the dawn of the Earth, and are
part of Earth's many deities that protect it from harm.

Quetzalcatls are soft to the touch and love to be petted; any kind of attention makes them excited, and they are very social, preferring to live in groups. They usually eat fruits and vegetation, but may also eat quite literally anything else; it seems they prefer not to most of the time. They are swift and agile, and though it has never been seen, they are believed to be able to fly with the wing-like protrusions from their shoulders. They have been seen to be able to run as fast as a cheetah, though it is quite rare that they have a need to run so fast; and even rarer so, they can spread out their ears and wings to appear larger and more threatening.
Though Quetzalcatls tend to live in the desert, they are capable of living within any of the earth's biomes. Strangely, they are not hunted down by many of the world's fiercest predators, hinting at some kind of importance.

Standard: Ear edits (must stay feathered), tail feather edits (must stay feathered), teeth edits, slit, dot, or oval pupils, weight edits
Common: Wing edits (must stay feathered & about same size), fur length edits, adding hair/mane
Unncommon: Scale patch edits, furry ear edits, furry tail edits, backmanes, sclera edits, other pupil edits
Rare: Any wing edits, wingless, horns, extra parts (tails, limbs, eyes, etc. no more than two extra)
Legendary: Munchkinism, canine face shape, extra wings, missing limbs, dragon talons, dragon face shape, scales covering whole body

Quetzalcatls are a closed species! This means you can't make your own.
Try to respect all members, staff or otherwise. If you have a problem, report it to me.
You may use them anywhere you like! Just don't use them to make a profit.
+ You cannot trade a quetzalcatl for anything than another catl.
You may trade a quetzalcatl after having them for 7 days.
You may only own 10 quetzalcatls, including customs.
You may add accessories to your catl. If they can be taken off, it counts as an accessory. Message me if you aren't sure!
Quetzalcatls can be used in AUs, roleplays, as anthros, or whatever you like!

Artists
You may create any rarity of adopts besides Legendary, and any amount of adopts.
You can choose to make customs, growths, and/or nursery batches if you wish - PM ME if you wish to be added to any of those!
NEW RULE: If any of your competitions are not judged within a week of ending, I may judge them myself, or another artist may ask to judge a competition.
You may give up to 10 honorable mentions!

Nursery Artists
Note: Nursery artists are exclusively added to the nursery page.
You may take up any nursery requests you wish - you may also hold raffles for your nursery slots as well.
Nursery batches must be done within a week of being claimed by you; if they are not, they can be requested to be claimed by a different artist by the person requesting the breeding. You must post and/or message the requester if you cannot do their breeding or if it will be delayed.
You may give up to 5 honorable mentions!

Guest Artists
You have a total of 4 adopts uncommon and under; one of them may be uncommon.
You will not be removed as a guest artist until you have made all of your adopts or if you have not made any adopts in a week.
You may also make ONE PPS batch of up to 2 catls if you wish; PM me!
If you want, you can choose to apply to help during event times!
