The demon was acquainted with Om before he inhabited Arthur's body. The two were far from friends however; Phoenix was constantly grating on the angel's nerves. Now it seems like he's showed up again just to torment his former rival.
Pheonix, who goes by Phee for short, is now working at Arthur's bookshop, simply because Arthur and Om can't get rid of him.
