What are Sabre-tooth Munchkins?
Sabre-tooth Munchkins are a species of small short-legged feline that originates in the tropical forests of the Congo basin in Africa. They are a social species, with females living within a Matriarchal pride that controls a territory, whilst males are nomadic and travel around in coalitions of 2 - 6 individuals.
Males are larger and exhibit a short cape-like mane, whereas females are smaller and look more like miniature lions. Both sexes have enlarged canine teeth which are used when hunting and fighting. They make very popular pets due to their small size and sociable, affectionate nature, and seem to get along very well with domestic cats.

Sabre-tooth Munchkin facts & info
→ STMs are closely related to Wildcats and domestic cats. Their latin name is Felis primocreatus. Because of this close relation they are capable of hybridising with other felines of the Felis genus.
→ Much like with domestic cats an adult female is called a molly and an adult male a tom. Youngsters under 1 year are called kittens or kits.
→ All STMs are born blind, deaf and helpless but after only a few days their canine teeth erupt. By the time they are 4 weeks old their eyes and ears have opened and they have learned to walk. Kittens are typically weaned at 8 weeks and are fully independent from their mothers by 12 months.
→ All STMs are born with dull, spotted coats. Most of the spots fade with age but many adult STMs will retain some spotting.
→ In the wild the only coat colours that occur naturally are shades of yellow, brown, cream and grey. Now due to natural selection in pets and hybridisation with cats has resulted in a greater variety of colours and markings, including tabby, tortoiseshell and siamese which are commonly seen in cats, as well as more unusual colours and combinations not naturally seen in either species.
→ Like other small cats, Munchkins cannot roar but they can purr and meow. They may also 'chirp', which they use to alert their companions to danger and things of interest, such as food.
→ Although their short, bristly cape-like mane is most common, some males have manes that are more unusual, both in length and texture.
→ STMs do not mate for life and can have multiple mates. In the wild the males are nomadic and so do not normally stay long enough to see their kittens born. If they do stick around then they don't usually partake in rearing the young, though domesticated males have been seen grooming kittens. Much like in a lion pride wild females help each other, teaching the kittens everything they need to know.
→ A pride is made up of 2 - 20 mature female Munchkins, plus any juvenile offspring, and are led by a single matriarch called the Queen. Coalitions tend to consist of 2 - 6 males, and typically consist of brothers and cousins, though unrelated males may occasionally join them. Between them a hierarchy is formed, with the lead male often being nicknamed the 'King'.
→ Litters are small, consisting of only 1 - 3 kittens. Twins are the most common outcome followed by single kittens and then triplets.
