Molsa Bosc Equines
Molsa Bosc Equines (scientific name Equus ferus cornifer) hail from the depths of a forest of the same name spanning nearly the expanse of a small continent. These wild horse-like creatures appear to have descended from the native heavy horses of the forest, having crossbred naturally with the (now extinct) plains-dwelling Quagga, and developed frontal horns unique to each individual. They still retain the heavy yet surprisingly agile structure of their ancient forebears, with thick canons, a short back, and a slightly heavy head supported by a powerfully muscled neck, which appears even more so due to the characteristic upright mane of Boscs. Height varies by gender, with mares being shorter than stallions on average. These equines travel in small herds, usually one stallion with one or two mares and their young – herd numbers greater than 8 or 9 are highly unusual. Young Boscs must stay with their mothers for at least 1 year, until their horns fully grow in, though some in the wild will stay with their family herd for as long as 5 years before leaving. They are primarily browsers, living off leafy greens as well as moss and lichen, however their diet can also include fodder such as grasses, hay, oats, etc. While capable of living on open plains, it is discomforting for most, preferring the shelter of the trees. Their primary response to danger is flight, though they can be extremely dangerous when cornered. For many years, these horned giants lived in peace in the Molsa Bosc, undomesticated, though in recent years a select few have managed to capture and tame their own.
