- Welcome
- I'd like to formally welcome you to the Veknethaus Facility.
Veknethaus (Vehk-neh-thay-us), or "Veks" for short are a genetically created species used for many purposes. The main purpose of these animals, however, is guarding. Slim but sturdily built, Veks are slightly smaller than a Great Dane. They have a beak however their lower jaw is mammalian, they have small teeth along their beak which is used to tear and partially chew, however the majority of chewing and digestion happens further down (for this reason a Vek will often eat large chunks of meat at one time). A Vek's eye has two pupils, one uses standard vision and the other uses thermal vision in order to help them see properly in all types of light.
Veknethaus also have two tentacles protruding from their spine between their shoulder blades. These tentacles are used both for defense and offense should it be needed. The tail of Vek's also possesses a hand-like appendage, this is not used for fighting, rather for delicate actions such as picking things up or carrying things.
Veknethaus are created in a lab and therefore cannot produce offspring nor have genitalia. They do, however, have two distinct sets of chromosomes that we have labeled male and female. These different chromosomes have yet produced no recognizable differences between the two genders.
Veks eat a solid diet of meat and cannot digest a significant amount of plant matter. It is also advised that they are not to be fed a diet with wholly dry food because it will make them ill. Supplement dry food with a meaty bone or mince of some description.
Veknethaus have been known to have varying temperaments however, each one is created with a strong sense of loyalty and an instinct to guard. All those wishing to own a Vek should take a similar approach to dog training as these animals are hierarchical by nature. An owner must be strong and definite in their discipline or the Vek will quickly become unruly.
Vek's are highly intelligent and generally vocal animals. They can often be heard making chirping, trilling or purring sounds when pleased or content. When angered they are able to produce an intimidating sound between a roar and a screech.
Each Veknethaus is born in the lab. They will undergo training through their development stages and are well treated. Once they have completed their training, they will be up for adoption to potential applicants.
