      Welcome to Sokumo adopts! This is the headquarters of this species, lines and total idea created by yours truly. However, this species itsef is truly credited to all of the hardworking staff who give it their effort and attention. That being said, we all work very hard to keep things happy-go-lucky and peachy, so please don't screw with that flow ♥ If you have any questions, please visit the Ask. If you're confused on the rules/info, please visit the post below for more links. Anything of utmost importance? Feel free to PM me! I don't [strike]usually bite, haha.

Rules

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

      - Respect is required, not optional.

      - Do not take/steal any Sokumo which are not yours.

      - Do not claim any Sokumo art as your own, even if you own the actual creature, unless you have created the art yourself.

      - Trading, selling, or revamping any Sokumo is prohibited.

      - Do not spam up the thread with one-worded or unrelated posts. This thread is mainly for marking, while the Ask is for questions, and the fanclub is for chat/showing-art/suggestions.

      - No obsessive chat-speak (lol, omg, etc are alright, but please spell-out simple words like 'you' or 'are' and so on).

      - Do not ask to be part of the staff, unless I have asked and/or there are forms up.

      - Keep all language and images appropriate for children. I'm sure we've all heard swears before, but this is more a CS rule than for this thread specifically.

      - Whether this thread is active or not, you are not granted the right to rush artists. However, if it has been a month or two since a contest as ended (and not been judged) or the last adoptable came out (and there has been no explanation as to why no more have been released since), then yes, you may 'bump' the thread and/or mention it on the Ask.

      -Any and all Sokumo are unique and may not be copied/changed (without permission) in any way, shape, or form, unless it is for fan-art. For fan-art, the Sokumo's design may not changed drastically, but misplacing the spots or stripes and such, if there are many of them, will be permitted. If you're unsure of any changes, then please be sure to PM a staff member.

      - Three warnings = ban

Species Info

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

    Description;;
      Sokumo are large, dog-like creatures with a knack for the sky. Their average height can vary from 64-78 inches, meaning that these fluffy critters can easily tower over you. Males tend to be larger than females, in both build and height, but this is not always the case. Their weight, for example, can be from 1,000 to 3,000 pounds, which may surprise most, due to their wings. Well, Sokumo gain their flying ability from channeling wind with nothing less than magical properties.
    Appearance;;
      Sokumo vary in color and design, though overall don't tend to change all that much physically. It would be uncommon to find one with horns or different ear-styles, rare to find one with strange feathers or a different fur length. As of yet, there has never been a wing/flightless Sokumo. either.
    Habitat;;
      As strange as these creatures are, they seem to be very adaptable, having the ability to live wherever they deem fit. Sokumo which live in warmer places, like deserts or tropical areas, have been noted to have thinner fur around their front. Sokumo which reside in much colder places, like the arctic or Alaska, have been known to have even fluffier fur.
    Diet;;
      All Sokumo share a love for food. Unlike other animals, Sokumo can digest nearly anything, and actually prefer seasoned meals and sugary delights over grass or hay. But everyone has their own preferences, and the same applies to them.
    Personalities;;
      Most Sokumo are peppy and friendly, but there are records of rather standoffish, shy, or violent Sokumo. The species itself seems rather emotional, each with their own specific quirks, likes, and dislikes.
    Attacking;;
      These creatures are anything but harmful, unless provoked. Maybe you could be seriously injured if one sat on you, but otherwise they haven't been known to attack out of fear. They generally only draw their claws for food purposes, really, because otherwise they can simply fly somewhere else, or shift the wind so that you go flying somewhere else.
    Communication;;
      Sokumo communicate in many ways. Most yip, bark, and growl, like cacnines, but there have been instances where a Sokumo was caught singing or hissing. They don't seem to have any boundaries when it comes to noises, but it's uncommon to find one that purposely exploits these talents.
    Abilities;;
      Sokumo have plushy paws, which they can bend and extend like fingers. Not in a way that they could hold a pencil with a thumb and all that, but that Sokumo have the ability to hold things (utensils and such) between their digital pads. Not all can read and write, but like humans, these intelligent creatures could be taught, given the right training and attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

How many Sokumo may I adopt?

      The general limit is 5. However, you are required to take good care of the amount that you have, meaning don't simple adopt a Sokumo just because it's there, only adopt it if you're actually willing to give it a fair amount of TLC.

May I take my Sokumo off CS?

      You may only put the original image of your Sokumo on a character site or something, while also giving all the correct art disclaimers (Hoshikuzu for the lines, and whatever artist for the design). Otherwise you may not put the image of your Sokumo on Deviantart or any other self-drawn-art-gallery type websites.

What if I don’t want my Sokumo anymore?

      If you no longer feel connected to your Sokumo, then you may PM either the artist who designed your Sokumo, or me, and we will put the Sokumo up for re-adoption. If the artist or myself are too busy, then we pass on the roll to a moderator who volunteers. The original owner of the Sokumo will most likely have nothing to do with the re-adoption, considering the Sokumo is no longer yours.

      You may not put your Sokumo up for re-adoption because you want another one, but you feel you've already reached your limit. i.e. You already own 5, and you see another one that you really like, so you give one of your already-owned Sokumo away simply so you may adopt this new one.

What happens if I break a rule?

      Depending on the severity of the rule broken, you will ever receive a warning (which all moderators, artist, and the admin will keep track of), or be banned from both the thread, fanclub, and adopting anymore Sokumo. As rarely as it may be, your already-owned Sokumo may also be taken away. Again, depending on the severity of the rule broken.

      But none of you will have to worry about any of these, now will we? I should hope not.

May I order customs?

      Custom Sokumo are only gifted to staff members who have been part of the team for quite a while (both artists and moderators). Guest artists do not receive the rights to a custom, and nor do any other staff members (mods or artists alike) who don't put in their fair share of work/effort.

What does "Sokumo" mean?

      The word "Sokumo" is a mix of the Japanese words Sora and Kumo. Sora is translated to "Sky" in English, and Kumo translated to "Cloud". Basically the name "Sokumo" means "Sky cloud", in a way. However, the name is not really speaking about clouds in the sky, but far higher - outer space clouds.

How do you pronounce "Sokumo"?

      Sokumo is pronounced Sō-koo-mō.
      Ō sounds like how one would say "oh" in English, so basically Sokumo is pronounced "S-oh-koo-m-oh", too.
