- Momos are amphibious land creatures who dwell in
marsh and forested areas. They don’t need water to
survive, but it is a crucial part of their lifestyle, to the
point where Momos do not live anywhere without water.
They originated from Australian rainforests and were
introduced into many parts of the world. Rainforests do
not exist everywhere of course, so many Momos have
adapted to ponds and the many marvellous water features
mankind have created for their lifestyle, and these places
are where Momos are now commonly found.
Momos have special air pockets attached to their cheeks
and tail, allowing them to one; breathe under water, and
two; stay afloat just under the surface, where they can eat
up tadpoles and small bugs floating on top of the water.
Their coat is water proof, much like an otter’s, and small
tufts of longer fur around their head, ears, neck and legs
and tail enable them to stay warmer during the winter.
When on land, Momos diet on bugs, flowers, berries and
soft seedpods. Momos also have a patch on their chest
which is one specific colour. This is used to attract mates,
and the brighter a Momo’s chest, supposedly the more
attractive they are. Of course, in a group of Momos, not
every single Momo will have bright colours, many Momos
find love with the darker colours, and are happy about it.
