the aura of magic around an uma's head is in fact not fire, and portrays the color
of their spirit's dreams, and will always have the lighter exterior
and a darker interior. if this is ever inverted, it is a sign
of mental instability. deformities or variations are so rare
that they have yet to be catalogued. though sightings of uma's
with crooked horns and furry ankles have been reported.
umas have very flat, short fur, similar to a fine velvet.
it is smooth to the touch and waterproof.relationships
after weening, umas leave their families to fulfill their spirits.
however, during this time, young umas will find other wanderers and
form small, tightly knit packs. these packs are known as 'lanterns',
and will travel, hunt, mate and eventually die together.
umas who are involved in a lantern will help
each other fulfill the dreams of their spirits and will
work together as a group.
diet
umas can convert the life force of any living object
to fuel their magic and strength. as long as their magic
has been fed, they can use it to power their physical bodies.
by being near other living organisms, they can feed themselves.
however, poisonous berries, butterflies and hazelnuts
can be consumed through the aura on their heads to fuel
their bodies. due to not having mouths, they consume all
physical food with their magic.magic
using the dreams of the deceased, umas can channel
the natural energy of most life forms into various
forms of simple magic. projectile magic can be used as
defense against predators, while shields can be generated
to protect against elements or attacks. certain powers can
be unlocked through meditation, though it is a rare occurrence.
