ABOUT THE BUNOX
The Bunox is a rare species recently found deep within the woods of my backyard. At first I thought these creatures were mutated bunnies until I caught a few to study them. Later on I found out Bunox are a mix between a Fox and a Bunny and where in some cases the Bunox will have the tail of a Fox. I also later on found out that male Bunox or Studs as I have named them only contain horns while females remain doe like. The females I have named Mases. I was intrigued by what I had found and I knew I had to get these guys out there, after all, who wouldn't want a mix between a bunny and a fox for their best friend?
HABITAT
Bunox tend to come out mainly in the warmer seasons where their coats are smooth and short. This is also the time when males and females come together to breed. Bunox like to live in highly vegetated habitats, so the backwoods are an ideal home for them.
ABOUT
Bunox are at times the size of a rabbit while on rare occasions they are the size of a male fox where as females are the size of vixens. Bunox females are fiercely protective over the young and will not let any males near their dens or babies. Female Bunox only have 1 baby per litter but they can have a baby basically every time the baby reaches the age of 7 months. Baby Bunox are not able to breed until they reach the age of 2 which then they will be full grown adults and have a den of their own with their own territory and mates. Bunox do not mate for life, they breed with any available male or female, thus enhancing a much larger gene pool. Male Bunox or Studs, use their horns during rival fights, young males have shorter horns than much older males, so fights with experienced males tend to be avoided if possible. Young males are pushed out of the den at the age of 6 months where they will have to find their own den and territory and mates. Females will stay with the mother until they are about 9 months since they need to learn how to defend their young from predators and other males while still holding onto their much needed territory. Females who do not have a territory and give birth have a much less success rate at raising their babies without predators or other males getting them. Though preferring plant over meat, Bunox males will kill a females babies to breed with that female and produce his own offspring for the female to raise, they will also hunt down younger Studs that have not left their mothers territory and drive them off or kill them. Young Studs who do not have a territory become wanderers. Wanderers like lone females will have a much less survival rate than males with a territory. Bunox live to be the ripe old age of 99, and in their time they would have produced 900+ babies or less depending on the turf, the food supply, and the success rate of the mother. Females will keep breeding until they are the age of 89.
BREEDING
Breeding will not be happening any time soon unless this species get out there and get more attention.
