Welcome to the Library!
This is where you can adopt the little creatures known as Story spirits! These Spirits are adorable little dragons which are manifestations of imagination and knowledge! These little cat sized creatures are often found in places such as schools or libraries. Each spirit is totally unique and you’ll never find any two that look the same!

What is a Story Spirit?

A Story Spirit is a manifestation of knowledge and imagination that takes the form of a dragon, they’re often found in libraries, universities, and schools. But it isn’t uncommon for them to be found in any place where books can be found! These little cat sized creatures live inside the stories of the books that they surround themselves with, this often effects what form and design that they take on.

Characteristics and Species
The Story spirits don’t really have any set characteristics, but each Spirit only has one dragon species that they can manifest into. New Discoveries are being made all the time, but at the moment these are the only species that we’ve recorded.

Rules
~Be kind and respectful to all of the staff here.
~ All CS rules apply.
~Do not take a Story spirit that is not yours.
~ Do not make a 'custom' Spirit on your own. (only those with my permission may do so)
~ There will never be any runners up in any adoptions, don’t even ask.
~ Do not ask to be an artist/mod or for a custom. When applications are open /then/ you can apply.
~ Do not discourage people from applying for a Spirit, it will get you banned from ever adopting any more spirits and any owned spirits will be put up for readoption.
~ a spirit must receive at least two forms to be judged, if this requirement isn't met, the adoption time will be extended by a week. If a week passes and no more forms are posted, the spirit will be wisped and put up for adoption at a later date.
~ I may make more rules as issues arise.
~Common sense also applies.

I'll be adding more info as we think of it, so keep an eye out!

general info
When a spirit  is 'born', it starts out as just a little wisp of a being, barely a shadow that you can see from the corner of your eye. The majority of spirits stay this way, but it is increasingly rare to find an unclaimed wisp on your own. 
Unless the wisp winds up finding a particularly imaginative human, they'll remain in this wisp form forever. But if they manage to find a suitable companion, they take on a more definite form and personality, influenced by whatever the human reads, as well as some other minor factors,such as the kind of characters that the human likes, favourite genres, etc. People who bond to multiple spirits are usually the types who rattle off a huge list when you ask to name their favorite characters, so it's not uncommon to see humans with a number of radically different spirits.
As they are spirits, Story spirits cannot interact with the physical world for the most part. Occasionally they'll accidently knock over a book, or something like that, but usually they just pass through solid objects, and are mostly found floating or hovering over things. Though for whatever reason, they can actually rest on the shoulder/head/etc/ of their person without falling through. They require no sleep, no food, no grooming, nothing like that, the only thing they require to continue existing is imagination. 
It's thought that these creatures help those they bond with become more inventive and creative, like a muse of sorts. Writers find themselves with new plot threads they might've never come up with, artists start work on something they'd never considered doing before, people in the field of science or mathematics might even get that one answer that's been bugging them for months!  As long as the person they bonded with keeps an open mind and looks for new experiences or challenges, the spirit will stay alive. This is why the spirits tend to be born and first found in schools and libraries, there's usually a high concentration of people looking for new ideas there. Sometimes, they may just manifest out of the blue in other areas, but it's not as sure of a thing. 
If the Spirt's bonded human closes their mind and stops questing for knowledge, the spirit begins to fade until they're nothing but a wisp again, and unless they find someone new to bond with soon, they just cease to exist entirely.

Manifestation in the real world

 Well, what if the spirit finds someone who is extremely clever? 
Then the spirits themselves keep growing and changing, until one day they're able to actually manifest in the physical world! These spirits are much larger than their insubstantial cousins, The smallest are never smaller than an Irish wolfhound; the average is about the size of a pony. Some can become much larger though, there's no exact 'upper limit'. But spirits larger than pony-size are uncommon.
capable of speech and magical feats, the new spirits and are always eager to learn more. Their bond with the human changes at this time as well. Their lives become tied together. The human may wind up with an incredibly long lifespan, traveling the world (and much more, the possibilities are endless!) with their dragon in the quest for new things. But wounds on one will hurt the other, and one dying means the immediate end for the other
although, when the spirits manifest into the world, they loose their ability to live inside of books. Now confined to the real world, the spirits loose this ability to help the spirit stay with their human to keep them safe.

Communication and interaction
Story Spirits communicate with each other and to their human through emotion and images, some of the stronger ones are capable of transmitting short words or phrases. They are only visible to the person they've bonded with and others who have bonded with a spirit, and cannot communicate to anyone (who isn't another spirit!) except the person they've bonded with.

Spirits also cannot breed! Because, well, they're spirits! The gender of each spirit would be entirely up to whoever adopts it/just what the spirit prefers to identify as. Even the ones who take physical form are actually sexless, and would not be able to produce offspring.

i'm not one to be interested in adoptable species, but i'm over the moon about these guys! i absolutely cannot wait to see where these go.
