Doru are a strange canid appearing species that was discovered by myself on Easter Island when I was visiting for a research trip with a friend of mine, though only shortly after he discovered an untouched Moai that was hidden deep beneath the waves that surrounded the island. I kept the discovery a closely held secret that I only shared with my closest friends who I knew I could trust; Fearing that other scientists would come and violate the creature and its habitat had I made the announcement of my discovery. I kept my notes and studies close to my heart wherever I went, and I was studying a particular specimen every day I could catch it leaping across the hills spread across the island.
The notes I am about to share with you are what I have so far on the species.

-The males of the species stand taller than that of a human, averaging out at about 6 and a half feet from the paw to the top of their mane.
-Females can stand at about five feet tall averaged out when an adult.
- Male and Female Doru are typically the same size at birth, though, however, at the human age of 10, the males experience a growth spurt while females grow steadily until adulthood.
-It has occurred to me that regardless of gender, a typical Doru would have a darker base coat, with lighter markings. A light base coat color is pretty uncommon
-Their diet consist of generally tropical fruits and fish of all types.
-The Doru have amazing speed and agility, which is fascinating considering their brute size.
- The rarity of the species is the corrupt form. I am not sure how to explain them other than the fact that corruption occurs when a Doru isolates itself from others in general, 'a lone wolf' so to speak. Separation from a group is so rare, that to see a corrupted Doru would be considered a sign from the island spirit, one that foreshadows an untimely and unwanted event.
-More info- Corruption is permanent, and once a Doru has been corrupted, there is no going back to its purified state. Corrupted Doru encountered in the wild flee at first sight, and it is nearly impossible to fully bond with them. One does not simply explain how a corruption looks, you will know when you see one.
-When a Doru and Human share a particular connection, may it be from passed experiences, or personality aspects, curiosity will pull them to each other, and then they eventually form a bond that cannot be broken by simple means. Once fully bonded, the owner and Doru can communicate telepathically as well as verbally. However, should a human bond with another Doru, they will not share telepathic abilities, and may only communicate verbally.
- Doru is singular, Dorun is plural.
