Introducing the Pyrogoby

Common Name: Pyrogoby

Scientific Name: Orbis lupus

Singular/Plural Forms: Pyrogoby / Pyrogobies

The Pyrogoby is a huge canine creature that loves attention. Males reach up to six feet tall at the crest of the head and can weigh up to 900 pounds. Females reach up to five and a half feet tall at the crest of the head and can weigh up to 700 pounds. They are large enough that one can ride on their backs. Most of the height of a Pyrogoby comes from the legs, which are nearly the same length as the body (minus the tail). Their tails are nearly twice as long as their bodies and are tipped with a huge, glowing orb. They also have a glowing orb on their foreheads.

Pyrogobies have many different ear shapes. A few examples would be short and long pointed ears (similar to wolf ears), ear flaps (similar to sea lion ears), and partially floppy and fully floppy ears. Male Pyrogobies have a ridge of spikes along the upper part of their tail, but females do not. All Pyrogobies have retractable claws, but they do not have dew claws.

As for colors and patterns, Pyrogobies can come in every shade - natural and unnatural. Their markings can also be natural or unnatural, so some Pyrogobies may have some very unusual markings. The forehead orb, tail orb, nose, and claws are always the same color. Their orbs glow brighter at night than in the day time, mostly because the light isn't drowned out by the sun at night. The eyes can be any color except black and can only be white if the Pyrogoby is blind.

Pyrogoby litters will have no more than two per litter. Female Pyrogobies will hunt for a den right before having their babies so that they can build a nice nest out of moss, leaves, feathers, or other soft materials. Their mates will hunt for them until the pups are old enough to venture out of the den. Only then will a male Pyrogoby watch over his pups while the mother goes out to stretch or hunt.

Pyrogobies are carnivores. They use their teeth and retractable claws to take down prey. Typically their diet consists of whatever is in the area, be it large prey like elk and deer or small prey like rabbits and squirrels. Larger prey is usually hunted down by three or more Pyrogobies. They hunt together exactly like wolves do.

How to Adopt

Simply post the Adoption Form, filled out, in the Pyrogoby's thread and send your payment.
You will have 24 hours to send payment unless you specifically ask for an extension.
If you do not pay within 24 hours or in your given time limit, the Pyrogoby goes back up for sale.

Some Pyrogobies will be completely free! However, you will have to work to get one.
Holiday Pyrogobies will be competitions, where the best form wins the Pyrogoby they try out for.
If a Pyrogoby has been up for two weeks without being adopted, it will switch to best form wins.

Who are your Guest Artists?
Currently, I don't have any guest artists, but I'm looking for some right now!
If you're interested, fill out the Guest Artist Form and post it in the main thread.

How much do you charge for your adoptables?
Regular adopts are 1 Wishlist pet OR 1 Uncommon pet from 2009.
Customs and Breedings are 1 Rare (or higher) Wishlist pet OR 2 Uncommon pets from 2009.
You can always check the Price section to see how much the Pyrogobies are.

How many Pyrogobies can we adopt in total?
You can adopt as many Pyrogobies as you want! There's no maximum limit!

How often can we adopt?
You can adopt one Pyrogoby per week. This gives everyone a chance to get some.

Can we get custom Pyrogobies?
Custom Pyrogobies aren't "custom" in the usual sense of the world. I don't do them based on references.
Instead, you give me a list of colors and markings and I put together a unique design based on that.
To request a custom, post a filled out Custom Form in the main thread and send payment.
Before requesting a Custom, please make sure to check to see if Custom Slots are actually open.

Can we breed our Pyrogobies?
Of course! Just post a filled out Breeding Form in the main thread and send payment.
You can only breed a male and female together, so make sure to have one of each.
