I don't think so. Kiamaras are galloping, while Night Newts are trotting/pacing. But I see what you mean about the background color

A similar pose and a background color are not sufficient enough to claim art theft. Unless certain key details are the same. For example, the time you were warned could have also been due to similar features. Kias and SNNs have almost nothing in common in terms of physical features and none of the artists are stealing their designs, so there shouldn't be a problem. It was kind of you to inform the staff of SNN adopts about the possible threat but it might have been better if you had PMed Seatala with your concerns. I only warn you because most people react in a very negative manner to accusations of art theft, whether it was intended as such or not.

One person cannot copyright a color, species, name, pose, or marking, unless their creation is highly unusual and original. This doesn't entitle you to copy artwork that someone else has made, but it protects you from complaints about common ideas or coincidental similarities.

Which means unless the background is somehow significant in some way or form, it can't be Copyrighted. A colored background with some dots I wouldn't think would be able to be (c)'d, none the less. And the Newt's are reptiles, and Kia's are something entirely different. No comparisons can be made; and this pose is a very common one for any artist.
