Destiny in the Stars
CHAPTER ONE
The Beginning of the Stars:
A radiating meteor fell out from the heavens above, heading towards the planet of Kamereon Ryu, with a flaming hot trail of white flames tailing behind. It sped towards the planet bursting through the atmosphere like it was a piece of rice paper. Suddenly, it exploded abruptly into millions of star fragments. Within the star fragments, a blinding light shot in several directions. A cracked turquoise rock emerged into sight. A sudden movement shook the rock viciously. But it wasn’t a rock, it was an egg, a Chameleon Dragon Egg, but how could it be? It had come from a meteor and Kamereon Ryu, the Chameleon Dragon Planet, was down there!
A green head popped out of a crack. The egg crumbled to dust and the rest of the creature body was shown. It had glowing stars on its pelt and a majestic purple mane. It squealed and screeched as she skyrocketed down to the planet. Would this beautiful creature, its fragile life end here? It closed its tiny pink eyes, waiting for the worst. Waiting and waiting, nothing happened. Finally, when she was sure she wasn’t hurt, she cautiously opened her bright eyes. She looked at the ground and squealed surprisingly.
Below her, she saw the ground, but her tiny feet wasn’t touching it. She was…floating. Starlight, was finally here. She was born into the spacious skies of the heavens, and now, down to the world. Later in life, should would realize her true self and her destiny of the skies, but as a little baby, she began to cry, her tears dampening the ground around her. She felt the hot sun disappear, a cold shadow draping her. She fearfully looked up to see a female honey coated Chameleon Dragon with sympathetic hazel eyes looking down at her.
“Why you little poor thing!”
She scooped Starlight up and quickly brought her to a small yet cozy cave. Well, Starlight, it seemed, was safe for now. Starlight, comforted by the female, closed her eyes and gave a big yawn, then finally, she slepted.
3 Moons later….
“ Dewleaf, I’m going to get some more moss for the nest!”
Starlight yowled to the back of her as she flew out the cave, not waiting for a reply. Her mother seemed to be always carefully watching her, as if she was still a baby.
I am not a baby anymore, mother, I am growing up and you have to let me have more freedom! Starlight thought to herself.
Starlight always knew that she was special somehow, but what was so special about her? She would ask her mother over and over and over, but she would always deliberately avoid the question. Starlight bit her lip in frustration.
She halted nearby a Kama tree, and inspected the surroundings. She collected some moss under the mintberry bush and returned to the cave. Dewleaf was sorting out the nuts, berries, and fruits.
“I’m back, mother!” Starlight announced.
Dewleaf turned around and scolded her.
“ You should be come back faster, I am so worried! You went at star rise and now its star high!”
“Well if you would let me have more freedom..” Starlight muttered to herself.
Eight days, had passed since the moss collecting, and Starlight packed her satchel, ready to go the village of Nova Kopia. She was four moons old and she was ready to go to the temple of Zira to start her training to of camouflaging and combat. She would also learn survival skills for when she was old enough to leave her mother’s cave to start her own journey. It would take two days to reach the village so she packed some herbs, fruits, berries, nuts, and seeds.
“I can’t wait to go!” Starlight exclaimed, jumping and hopping around her mother.
“ Well be careful, you will make some friends as well as enemies along your destiny,” her mother whispered quietly, barely audible to Starlight. “You must choose the right path, or the darkness era shall come..”
She looked quizzically at her mother and shrugged her shoulders.
“Well anyways, I’ll see you in a moon, mom!” Starlight said and put her snout against her mother’s cheek. Starlight raced out of the cave and flew high into her skies. Little did she know what would light ahead, her destiny…
CHAPTER TWO
THE RISE OF THE MOONS:
2 Moons Later…
She crept around the walls of the Temple of Zira, carefully placing each step with deadly precision. Starlight tasted the air, trying to figure out where her enemy once. Suddenly, someone landed on her with immense force and crushed her against the ground. She fell limp under its weight. The enemy cackled a laughter and said in a sneering voice,
” I win.”
Starlight suddenly, on the exact moment, flipped up and flew into the sky. She soared down and smashed into the enemy.
“Or maybe not, Exodus.” She replied happily.
Grunting, the Chameleon Dragon that Starlight was on top of got up. He had was black with red markings. Exodus shook the dust off him.
“Well next time, I won’t hold back on you, Starlight.” Exodus warned with a grin.
They were exhausted from the training so they flew to the Catalic Ponds in the courtyard of the temple and got a drink. Two other Chameleon Dragons landed next to them, Alantus and Elgor. Starlight and Exodus greeted them and they began chatting like birds.
“ You are supposed to be sparring with each other, not chatting away like a starlings!”
A voice growled behind them.
A large male Charmeleon Dragon, twice the size of all four dragons, stood before them. Three other dragons snickered behind him. It was Komumara, another black dragon with gray metallic wings and red claws. On his shoulders was a red patch of fur shaped like a moon. His slitted orange eyes glared at them. Komumara was a hotheaded Charmeleon Dragon that Starlight and her friends didn't like. They looked at Komumara with hatred in there eyes but there was nothing they could do because he was stating the truth. They slowly got up and by then, Komumara and his comrades was gone.
" I wish they would just leave us alone!" Elgor snapped and Alantus nodded in agreement.
Starlight was still staring at the place Komumara was just standing in.
That..that moon mark...its like my star marking on me! Starlight thought to herself.
He star marks were unique and she knew no one would have strange markings like her. But for the first time, she noticed that moon mark on Komumara. He must know something about my star marks!
" Hello, earth to Starlight!"
Exodus was shouting into Starlight's face.
Ok ok! I'm here!" Starlight replied.
She shook her head and decided to ignore what just happened. For the rest of the day, she practiced sparring with her friends. When night fell and every dragon student was going to their cave groups, Starlight secretly crept away from her group and flew silently to the Waku Hills, which were above the cave groups. She landed there and looked into the sky. The Waku Hills were her favorite place to spend time when she couldn’t sleep. She thought about Komumara’s strange marking...
Suddenly, something suffocated her from behind. Frantically, she twisted around and clawed the attacker. She bit down hard on its shoulder and the attacker yowled in pain, releasing the death grip. She wacked her tail against his legs, but they wouldn’t give in. The attacker, regaining from her bite, growled in rage. She realized that the attacker was twice her size. She gulped as the attacker raised his fists, ready to smash it into her….
Suddenly a another black dragon rammed into the attacker. It was Exodus. He spun around with his tail out and like a tornado, he attacked. The attacker was thrown back against a boulder slab. He counter attacked by pushing his feet against the boulder and rocketed toward Exodus. Exodus met him with a sweep of his tail and the attacker lost balance. He hobbled over to the edge of the hills, to a small cliff. The mysterious dragon looked at Starlight, then Exodus and snarling, flew away into the depths of the night. But that wasn’t the most important thing that Starlight was worried about, as he was flying away, she noticed a moon like mark on his shoulder.
Could it be...?! Was that….Komumara??!! she thought with fear.
“ What are you doing here, Starlight? Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping in your cave?! You could’ve been killed by that rogue dragon!” Exodus exclaimed in fury but she could see genuine concern in his amber eyes.
“ I-I’m sorry! I couldn’t sleep so I went here to get some fresh air!” Starlight stammered in protest.
“It was Komumara, right?” Exodus whispered quietly, looking down at his feet. “I know why he did that. He was…after your stars.” Exodus looked at Starlight, with regret in his eyes. “I should’ve told you earlier….but its too late.”
CHAPTER THREE
THE TRUTH AND BETRAYAL:
“I am…Komumara’s….brother.” Exodus, feeling ashamed, looked away from Starlight’s astonished face. He was ready forher to turn on him and fly away. But instead, Starlight whispered softly,
“Why didn’t you tell me this, Exodus? And why is he mean to you? What exactly happened?”
Exodus sighed and looked at Starlight. He looked at the moon and began telling the truth.
“ You are not a normal chameleon, Starlight, you are a prophesized dragon, at least what Komumara stated. You came down from a meteor with strange star markings. My brother knew that your star markings had great power in it. He wanted to kill you and steal it for himself. He took some of it, right before Dewleaf came. But he couldn’t take all of it. It was too powerful for him. Now he thinks he is strong enough to take it. I was born a couple days before you. My brother told all of this to me and he wanted me to kill you so he could get the powers. But I could not bring myself to kill you. You are my friend. And that is why he hates me.
“ Wait, your brother wanted you to kill me?! And Dewleaf is not my mother?!” Starlight exclaimed in shock.
“No, sadly they aren’t. I know you like me and I like you, but we must part ways. I must return to my brother. Next time, we will be enemies. Do not go soft on me. I promise I will come back to you one day.” And with that, Exodus took off into the night sky in the path his brother went, leaving a shocked Starlight standing there.
Starlight felt a mix of anger, betrayal, and sadness in her. She had began to love Exodus but he had betrayed her. She wept bitterly on the hill.
Chapter Four:
Moon Conquerors
Exodus sat down near his brother’s side. He had a dark black cape around him with a white moon symbol in the middle. His eyes were cold and glaring. If he had any feelings for Starlight, he didn’t dare show it at all.
“We the Moon Conquerors shall take control of the Power of the Stars!”
Komumara exclaimed as a crowd of Chameleon Dragons cheered.
The crowd of Charmeleon Dragons were the Moon Army, a ruthless army of warriors that were made to fight and kill.
“ We need the Power of the Stars so that we can take control of Kamereon Ryu! We need to show who’s the one who should lead us!”
Exodus yowled above the cheering.
“Komumara! Exodus! Komumara! Exodus!”
Chanting was heard all over the cave.
Komumara smiled and thought to himself, Starlight, it’s the end for you. It’s time for vengeance.
