haha, yes^^ easy to guess, hard to know.

The water level would fall, rather than rise or remain the same. Floating, the lump of steel displaces water equal to its weight; immersed, it displaces water equal only to its volume, and if its heavy enough to sink, it is denser than water, and therefore its volume of water is less than its weight of water. It simply takes up less space, allowing the water level to sink.
