Personal Visual Processing Experiances

Postby MIDIraptor » Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:23 pm

Trying to make it short and sweet because you're probably from my trades!

I'm autistic and for me that comes with sensory processing issues, including visually.
I just want to share my experience and make it easier to understand ::]

-----------------------------------------------

What is it?

Simply put: my eyes work ok enough but my brain can struggle to take in the information properly.

What is it like?

Visually I'm easily overwhelmed so making out words and objects can be hard.
Words and items can blend into the background / eachother, or be impossible to identify.

What is visually overwhelming?

It's usually complexity.

Walls of text
Complex fonts (eg. cursive / gothic styles)
If there's "clutter" I can miss things right infront of me, or be unable to read

-----------------------------------------------

I try my best to read rules and don't break them on purpouse, often I've just missed something without realising
If I'm struggling to read your trade rules I might not start a trade with you (to avoid problems!)

! Easier Reads !

Examples of stuff I find easier to process
----------------------------------------------------

Lists often make things more readable! The indentation also really helps break up / section out information and I do exactly the same for myself a lot. Gif isn't movement heavy so doesn't make reading harder

----------------------------------------------------

Text is not too dense (separated into paragraphs)
Information is concise + important stuff is in bold which serves as a visual anchor(?) and puts the next bits into context (final bit is more information processing than visual, but it stood out to me as they can affect eachother)
