So I adopted Alex and he's turning about four years old now. I think he's noticing some differences, he's mostly black and I'm white. I always tried to make 'adoption' into a good term and tell him, but when I look into those big blue eyes I just haven't had it in me. I notice him staring at me then back at himself. He is a black lab mix. I'm afraid he thinks he's human, and if he does, I don't know what I would do. How do you think I should sit him down and tell him?

Many animals tend to think they are just like people, especially if you feed him "human" food (I pray not chocolate), taking him everywhere with you, a chair for him at the dinning table, he knows how o use a toilet, etc. I admit I'm guilty of this with my cats. They have their own bed now >.> Just let him float his own boat unless you feel he's going too far, then put him in a kennel for about an hour and he'll go back to his own place in the pack. I had to do this with my dog. Kenneling doesn't hurt an animal, it's just for their own well-being and yours, too ^^ I hope this helped somewhat
