Are there any other dancers out there?

Postby dancer001 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:47 am

Okay, so I am huge in dance. I take dance at my town's dance school, I am in the Grissom Guardettes, which is basically a dance team for my middle school, and I was just told today that I am capable of making Penn Poms, which is the High School's dance team :P. I am so happy!!!! :D !!!!! :D So, any other dancers out there?

95 percent of teens would cry if they saw the Jonas Brothers at the top of a skyscraper about to jump. Copy and paste this if you are one of the 5 percent who would sit there with popcorn and a camera and yell "DO A FLIP!"

99.9% of teenagers would go insane if Edward, Bella and Jacob died. If you are the 0.1% who would be screaming "FINALLY!" at the top of your lungs, put this in your signature.

90% of the teens today would die if myspace had an error and closed. If you're one of the 10% who would be laughing, copy and paste this into your sig.

Yes! I love dance! I take 2 ballet classes, 1 tap and 1 jazz class a week and it's so much fun!

It very much annoys me that no one sees dance for the sport it really is. It's a wonderful sport and it takes much hard work and effort.

Wow, you must be really busy. I really only have about one week day to myself, and then the weekend. I am just in jazz once a week and dance team for my school which is 3 or 4 nights a week.

I agree. Sure, we don't need to work out as much as people in sports like wrestling, baseball, or basketball, etc., but dance is still a sport that takes almost just as much endurance.

I used to dance a whole lot. When I was ten, I was in the ballet dance company for my studio and I also took Hip-hop and middle eastern. I quit the company after our ballet instructor left, though, and started taking Lyracle (sorry - I can't spell) along with hip-hop. I stopped dancing this year though because I had too much else going on. I still love it though.

I'm a bit of a snob with dance. XD School dance is crap, I've never done it and never will do it.

Besides, the dance ensemble at my school is.. really terrible.

But I've been dancing for 11 years {I'm 13} and still loving it. (:

Last year I did 5 and a half hours of ballet a week, and an hour each of tap and jazz, but I dropped a class to do more drama, so now I just do 3 and a half hours of ballet a week, and the same hour each of tap & jazz.

I've danced in pretty much every theatre in my city. :3 My dance school's very well known in the industry because of the owner.

Dance is probably one of the most intense sports there are, especially ballet.

Edit;
dancing squid

That is a win typo. XD

Dancing "Squid"? lol, don't worry, we know you mean squad. A couple years ago I broke my arm, and I still had to perform at my dance school's recital. It's weird when you go to clap, and you just hit air!

Wow! That is a lot of dance! My friend takes 8 hours of various dance a week, plus Penn Poms, and dance classes at Penn.

I've only been dancing at Debbie Werbrouck's (my dance school) for 5 years.

I will agree with you. Most of the girls on the dance team at my school stink. I will be surprised if more than 2 other people make Penn Poms.

No offense to anyone, but I don't think I could ever do ballet. I kind of fall asleep while watching it. Jazz is really intense if it is like your whole life (like me).

Lol I love pointe. <3 I just do it as part of RAD though, I don't do it as a separate class.

... Which reminds me, I need to go cut my toenails.

I can't wear open toed shoes though 'cause my feet are stuffed up. But it's worth it. <333

Last year on my school open night the dance coordinator at my school made me choreograph my own solo. X3
So I did it on pointe to bohemian rhapsody. ^^ Which made it quite fun.

No offense to anyone, but I don't think I could ever do ballet

Lol, the personality of mine that usually takes over is the most non balletic person you'd ever meet. XD She dislikes ballet a lot. My quieter personality loves it though, it's beautiful.

Mhmm, ballet at a high level is exteme. Even at my level it's just so intense it's not funny.

We'd come out of a class dripping, and come out of an exam and practically die.

A question; does anyone here do RAD exams?
I do intermediate at the moment, I've done up to grade 7 with grades too, but I dropped grades this year. I'm finishing grade 8 next year, though, and finishing intermediate too. I don't know if I'll go on to advanced 1. Definitely not advanced 2 or solo seal.

Also; does anyone else here do singing/acting as well as dance? Very useful for major productions. ^^ Excellent money earner.

I really want to make pointe next year. My teacher, Mark, says that he's gonna start considering us for pointe so I really want to do that.

And also, dance class is usually way more tiring than soccer.
