Comanche, you hit the nail on the head for me. ^^ (From a few pages ago)

One thing that really bugs me are those percentage signatures about pushing someone(usually Miley Cyrus) off a building. First of all, they're totally unaccurate. If 90% of people would freak out, why do so many people have those things in their signatures? But worse is how mean they are. What is this world coming to if you'd actually push someone off a building just because you don't like their music? Not that they actually would, but it is still bad to even say that. That's like saying "I'd like to kill so-and-so." >.< I mean, I don't like Miley Cyrus' music either, but if someone was about to jump off a building, I'd be calling the police no matter who they were. I certainly hope other people would, too. I think they would feel pretty bad if I had a thing in my signature saying "If you are one of those people who would push those people with Miley Cyrus signatures off a building, put this in your siggy!" I mean, really. If I had it my way, I'd ban those things.

Good point. ^^ This is my e-mail siggy:
--
Apparently 95% of 10-16 year olds would have a breakdown if the Jonas Brothers jumped of the Empire State Building.
Supposedly 5% would yell 'Jump'.
Put this in your sig if you would try to catch them, or at least call 911. Stop the hate sigs, they're real people too.

There was a topic a while back about those signatures, so here's what I posted in that (in response to someone saying they hated the Jonas brothers and wished they would die), because my opinions haven't changed and I don't feel like writing the whole thing out again XD:

Why would you wish for three nice young men you've never met to die simply because a lot of other people like them? That's the issue a lot of people (including myself) have with those signatures saying that you would push someone off of a building because you don't like their music - think about what you're saying there. You would murder someone simply because they are popular and you think they shouldn't be. I know it's not meant to be serious, but it's a horrible thing to say even in jest, and it spreads a message of hatred. Death is not a thing to be joked about, even in something 'insignificant' like a signature (which only goes on every single post you make and becomes what people associate you with and shapes their opinions of you as a person...). I'm not a fan of the Jonas Brothers' music, I dislike Miley Cyrus, and I have no interest in Stephanie Meyer's books, but I would never wish death on any of them simply for the crime of having obsessive annoying fans. If you hate someone's music or books, why not say "90% of girls would cry if the Jonas Brothers quit, 9% would be laughing and 1% would throw a party" or something? It's still annoying, but at least it gets your point across without resorting to psychopathic statements. Even better, replace it entirely and instead say who your favourite music artist is. No hate, makes your signature more unique and interesting, reflects who you are, helps you find other people who love that artist, and you'd be getting people interested in music you like instead of the Jonas Brothers. What's not to like about that? :D

What I absolutely HATE is when people are like, "I hate (singer's name here)." How in the world do you HATE them? Have you ever MET them? I thought not. Now, why do they not say, "I hate (singer's name here)'s music." That's much more accurate.

This is why I put the "0.3% of CS has ordered Wendigo avatars. This is trufax, unlike your Miley Cyrus sigs." in my sig. And it's true, I did the math.

Someone else had one like "xx% of people would be celebrating if Warriors ended. If you're someone who would scream and throw stuff at them, put this in your sig!" You're proud of being a psychotic Warriors fantard? Remind me to cross the street to avoid you. That doesn't make you look cute, that makes you look SCARY.

Another rant; I saw in someone's sig "I GIVE UP SPREADING THE LOVE. CS WILL ALWAYS BE FULL OF RANTING AND FLAMES."

Please point out this rampant bullying, as the STL movement has yet to provide EVIDENCE of these claims, they're just content complaining about how omghateful CS is. If it's so horrible, leave. srsly.

I always corrected people when they said "I HATE BUSH." No, you hate his POLITICAL DECISIONS. I think Lady Gaga's music is horrible, her theatrics are stupid and scream "PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEEE I WANT TO BE EDGY SO BAD" but I don't hate her as a person.

I hate her rabid fanbase.

Agreed.
Look at the newbie helper applications; there's hundreds of them! So many active members have applied, me included. This is a sign people are nice on here, not on-the-loose, bullying, flaming, argumentative trolls, right?

When did that whole 'OMG PEOPLE ON CS ARE MEAN!!!1!11' thing start, anyway? It seems like it's the newest fad or something, and as other people have pointed out, I don't recall seeing a lick of evidence for it.

On the other hand, I don't really give a darn about celebrities. I do agree that those signatures are hateful, but half the time I haven't a clue who it's talking about. If I know someone's name, it means I really, REALLY like them: whether it be their acting, their music, their art, whatever. I just have better things to do with my life than study/obsess over someone who'll never know I exist. :-p

It started with a rant. Which is ironic since these people are like allergic to rants. And rant about rants. And pretend that they're still part of this enormous CS Salt March.

I only know of the Jonas brothers through what I've seen in people's signatures and icons pretty much - I've only listened to one of their songs ("Poor Unfortunate Souls", because I couldn't imagine it being sung by a group of teenaged boys instead of Ursula the Sea-Witch XD). However, they've always seemed like nice young guys from what I've seen of them, and very modest and down-to-earth considering the fuss that's made over them. Miley Cyrus is a spoiled brat, but I certainly wouldn't say I hate her for it - she's more of a mild annoyance who occasionally tries to grab the spotlight with her little hissy fits (like "I'm going to take down Radiohead!").

I also have yet to see this rampant bullying and flaming that people mention so often. I must point out though that Spotty's STL project doesn't support any such claims, and she actively discourages people from saying such things in her thread; the original STL thing still has some people who complain about the 'haters', and other people have jumped on that bandwagon.

Edit: there a picture in my post that people might find disturbing of Miley Cyrus. Please don't click the link if you can't handle it maturely/ect.

I'm definitely not a fan of Miley Cyrus or the Jonas brothers, but I don't hate them with a passion. I see alot of people with those silly tags/icons in their signature like "99% of teenage girls would cry if Miley was kidnapped, ect, ect" and it really frustrates me. Sure, Miley/Jonas/Twilight/Harry Potter are extremely popular among the teens (and even adults) of our generation, with fans coming left, right and center, but why would someone feel such hate towards them because of it? They're successful authors/actors who have worked hard to get where they are and it's obvious that it paid off because look how far they've gotten. I liked both the warriors and twilight series, even though I'm a very advanced reader. They were simple enough for the average teen to follow, yet interesting and kept you turning the pages. And yes, I'm sure Miley Cyrus and other teen celebrities have done foolish things before; they're teenagers what do you expect? Lots of people have been - let's say graphic - in their wording about this picture. It was a stupid idea put a picture up like that (even if it's not pornographic) when she is a role model to 7-year olds, but she's only 16-17. I don't think there are many people past that age who can't say they've done something reckless or silly because of teen hormones.

Anyway, that's just my opinion :P
