His mom died? That just sucks I somewhat know how he feels. Tell him you so sorry about what happened and let him know you'll always be there for him. You could talk to him before Advisory starts or after it ends.

Hey, even if you don't like him, that doesn't mean you can't apologize if you feel bad for ignoring him! Just let him know that you'd like to friends; you can never really know if you like someone unless you get to know them.
