Dear self,
Stop having this terrible fear.
This fear that controls your life,
It takes control of your ability to have fun when it is present,
And completely takes over any chance you have to seem brave.
You know it. No matter how many times your deny it to yourself.
Your afraid of the dark, and there is barley anything you can do about it.
You're too old for this.
It prevents you from hanging out with your friends, getting your job done, even going to sleep is a challenge.
Nobody understands what it's like to go through it.
Nobody around you understands.
They pretend too- they don't.
Why are you afraid of the dark?
I know, you are afraid of people kidnapping you, afraid of the ghosts, that you don't even believe in.
That mirror? You don't like that either.
It scares you so badly.
You just looked over at it,
Were you afraid that something was going to be there?
Yes, you were.
You had to hold back tears when your best friend refused to go back to your house with you when it was dark, and well into the night.
You could have walked yourself, but your too scared.
So you waited in the snow with her, because she said she would come with you when she felt like it was okay to.
You tried pleading her to go earlier, because you were scared. But she didn't understand. Of course she didn't.
Then again, you don't understand how one can walk in the streets at night.
You won't understand, just like no one will understand your fear of the dark.
You're also to much of a wimp to tell people how much it terrifies you.
They'll laugh at you...
Just be braver... please.
