~Legolas~ wrote:~Legolas~ wrote:~Legolas~ wrote:Okay so I have a crush on this guy (Let's call him T) and I have liked him for a while. Now T is very athletic and plays football, wrestling, basketball and track. He also is in choir and band. Now here is the crazy part. So technically we are the same age, but because his parents held him back a year because that's what the state said was best to do, he is a grade lower than me. He and I both know each other well since we have homeroom together and I was his wrestling manager last year we get along pretty well. The problem is I have no idea how to talk to him even though we have some things in common but I just don't know how to get a convo started and keep it going.... Advice?

I need a lot of help, but from Christian people, please! So I like this Jewish girl but I'm Christian and believe that dating someone is not the way to convert them and I will not date her. But she and a lot of other people found out about my thoughts. She doesn't care but a lot of people think I'm being a jerk because of it. I don't understand why though! I have a right to think that and me and the girl are still great friends. Any advice?

What do you mean by "dating someone is not the way to convert them"? I'm sorry if I'm being rude or ignorant in anyway, but can't two people of different religions date, without one converting?

Converting her shouldn't even be of your concern. Everyone has the right to practice their own religion and beliefs.

Well its sort of a Christians mission in life to spread the gospel and gain more followers of Christ. I'm not saying that people don't have the right to have there own religion, I'm just saying that I'm still going to share things about my religion with them because I believe its what I should do and I'd like my girlfriend to have the sand beliefs.

I am Christian. It is my duty to spread the word of God and who wish to follow will follow. It is not my duty to force my beliefs down one's throat. Sure, you can share your beliefs but you must also preserve hers.

I'm not saying I'm "shoving it down ones throat." Since this isn't on topic anymore, would everyone just pretend I never posted at all. Thanks

Christians are called to not marry those with different beliefs because that is how a lot of arguments happen, and one can lead the other astray even. So yes, if a Christian wants to date someone, they should be a strong believer. You can go ahead and witness, but you dont have the right to shove it down the girl's throat. I am not saying you are, I'm just giving you a bit of warning. The person isnt likely to change their beliefs if you start forcing it on them, but this isnt to say you cant try. I would be careful though because they could just go through the motions in order to make you think they converted. Conversion is up to God, we just 'plant the seed'.
love God, love others, and love netflix.
also psa; sorry for my delayed response to trades, i am an active student.

I know how you feel my best friend is an Athiest and I'm a Christian but we respect each other's religion very well like if she says oh my God I'm totally fine with that and if we have to go to church during a sleepover then she will go with me without hesitating. So my advice is as long as you respect her religion and she respects your's then you could make a great couple.
