Hello, everyone.~
I have a huge prayer request;
My cousin is visiting, he lives in Florida.
He doesn't know how long he's gonna stay,
but that's not the point.
He used to believe in God,
but that was a long time ago
He's just really confused
He think he knows the truth,
but ehh..
Anyway, could you guys pray that he finds the right path? It'd be greatly appreciated. <3

God has really worked some miracles since the day that I was born, and my family and I are all very thankful for everything that He has done for me.

Lets discuss beliefs. I find beliefs fascinating. :D

Do you believe in 'once saved always saved'? Why or why not.
Do you believe in free will in the sense we can do as we please? W/wn
Do you believe in the concept of Election, which is God purposfully putting aside group of people for salvation. W/wn
Anything else you'd like to share? :D
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

-I pop in from time to time-

1. No I do not. If you are baptized that is great and step one, but you still have to strive to be like Christ and repent/ask forgiveness of your sins once committed, even after getting right with God. If once saved always saved was true, dont you think there would be a lot of sin from "Christian" people?
2. Yes, God gave us free will. All of the evidence is in the Bible, and God does not control our "fate" or "destinies". At least, that's what I remember, I may be wrong.
3. I'm not sure what this is, but I'm going to say no, I dont believe God reserved a group of people to be saved, and all of us can be saved through Jesus. (:

On an other note, I'll be praying for you all. And I'd like to ask that you guys pray for Lylah, a 2 almost 3 year old, and Austin, a teen. Both of them go to my church, and both are battling two types of very aggressive cancer, one cancer per kid, not both of them dealing with two. ^^' Lylah's has shrunk to half its size, which is remarkable since in Jan her parents were told they'd have about a month left with her, and shes still here fighting. Austin was out of the hospital, but had to go back last week, and was admitted with a fever of 108ยฐ F. He didnt have a seizer due to him already being on anti seizer mess, but the docs say that was a record temp, and when you think about it its like he's cooking from the inside out. Poor kiddos, so please, keep them in your prayers.

Hi there everyone. I was wondering if I could jump in on this thread to get a little informed. I don't want to start anything, I'm just hoping to ask some questions and learn a little about religion. ^^ I was raised in a Christian home and my family went to church almost every week. I was baptized as a very young baby, but I realized quickly that the whole God concept didn't sit right with me. At the moment I am atheist, and it seems to be working for me, but I am heavily criticized by family and friends. I'm a very scientific person, and I think the differences between what I've heard about the bible and what I've heard from teachers and textbooks have made me very skeptical. If y'all don't mind, I would love to hear some answers and discussion on a few questions:

I've been told that in the bible it says it's a "sin" to eat animals with cloven hooves, shellfish, and to mix crops in one field. What exactly is a "sin" and how would eating something cause any unrest with God?
I was baptized as a baby, but I don't believe in God. My family and friends are upset by this, and I have been told multiple times I am going to hell. What is my situation like exactly, and why would a god send you to hell just for not believing in him?
Why did people start believing in God, exactly? Did they just listen to what they were told or was there actually some "evidence"? Why, if they were told something had happened, do they believe that and not what they are told from scientists?

Thanks for any answers! Again, I'm only trying to get some information. I am so curious about religion and why and how people can believe in it, but I cannot ask any of my family or friends without getting bombarded. Thanks again.

First question: Thats all silly nonsense. The book they refer to is Leviticus which was -not- written for us in the modern time. It was a.. manual.. if you will, on how the Levitate Priests should live to completely set themselves apart from the rest of humanity. It has all kinds of funky things in it. Good for historical context, nto so much for present day.

Second question: Why.. shouldn't he? He's a completely sovereign almighty God. How DARE we NOT worship and glorify Him? Who are we, an insignificant blimp in time, a creation, not glorify the creator? Does not the potter create objects and expect them to glorfy him as an artist? Or a writer? and when the work doesn't glorify the creator, doesn't the creator ball it up/throw it out? It sounds pretty grisly when explained like this..

Third: I've never understood all the science vs. the Bible stuff.. o.O Why do they have to go against one another? The Bible is actually a pretty nifty book, it has LOADS of science in it, theories written before they were even made known to 'science'. Liek the Earth being round. Like the Earth hanging suspended, and it rotated around objects. These sorts of things were in the Bible before they became popular ideas.. http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/science.shtml Is an awesome site and fun to read.

1) Nope nope. Would it make sense to make it other way around, once lost, always lost? No! Why? Because people can have a change of heart, or maybe gain knowledge prompting their belief. Same goes for once saved always saved, people can have a change of heart. And I love using the key metaphor. The key to heaven is the belief on God the father and the fact that Jesus died on the cross for us. You can either accept the key or reject it. If you reject it, the offer will always be open for you to accept it, and if you have it and want to return the key, you can. The key in question unlocks heaven's gates, but whether or not you believe that is the case is up to you.

2) Yes. What @SplashofOrangeJuice said. It is said many times that God gave us free will to do as we please, free will to believe or not to believe.

3) No way! What would be the sense in giving us the offer of heaven when those who are going have already been chosen?? What a rip-off!
It's like going to a store that has an add up no small print saying the sale only applies for specific people. How would I know that if the small print is not there? It states in the Bible, heaven is open to anyone who believes.

Hi guys! I was wondering if you could please pray for a friend of mine's father. He has brain cancer and my friend doesn't think he has much time left. She is very understandably torn up about it and I think she and her family need some prayers right about now. Thank you!
