Actually I think we have too. Our religion is pretty different than others... there is no different churches, always just churches of an area like a world-wide chain. Every church (or congregation as we call them) is kind and warm, and you are always greeted my happy friendly people. That's just how our religion works, and how we're advised to be. So when they make a world-wide announcement, we follow it. So they advise us to stay away from "Private Property" or "Keep Out" houses. Though, some people still do, perhaps by mistake, or because they didn't know your not supposed to do it. :3

Just because your religion is "different" and the guidelines say you to be "nice and kind to everyone", doesn't
mean that everyone is.

People have different personalities. I've met some pretty decent Christians as an example, who
don't bother me about stuff, and still think of me as an equal. Then there are the Christians
who block my path when I'm trying to catch the train, just so they can tell me how
offensive my black skull T-shirt is.

Believe it or not, not everyone in your religion is going to be hippy happy and nice and kind
to eeeveryone. It doesn't matter what you are advised to do - a lot of people take stuff into their
own hands.

Like that "Thou shalt not kill" or whatever thing from the bible. Yet there is the KKK and
religious nutcases who have gone around killing people in the name of God.

You cannot say that every JH is like you. You cannot say that every JH acts exactly
how they are told to. People do things the way they see fit. And the JH's I've met, and
heard stories about, they don't care one damn about 'Private property' and etc.

...JW, thanks. I know not everyone is "hippy happy" and "like me". But you can't always beleive stories, and they're all different. I'm just going to leave this thread now since there is obviously no way to change your mind about hating JWs. I don't care. I'm completely happy not talking to anyone that will just keep disagreeing. You go ahead and spite us then if you want to, I guess. That's not going to stop us from trying to preach. Sorry they're bothering you. Have a nice day! :3

I know you said you would leave the thread and all, but just on the offchance you check this again, I'd just like to say that I like you very much and think you've got a lot of spunk, cheer and good attitude. You're right; when people decide they hate something, there's not a lot you can do to change their minds on an internet forum. I think the best choice at this point is just to leave, because whether or not people are attacking you directly, they're attacking your faith and that can hurt just as much, if not more. I don't share your religious beliefs, but I think you're a brave little thing, and I for one am getting tired of all this whining and bashing of Christianity in general. I'm sorry for that, but I hope you don't think all of us non-Christians are so militantly against JWs or missionaries in general. I understand why it's done and appreciate the sentiment-- converters are genuinely concerned and trying to help, I know. As a Buddhist I may disagree with the method, but it warms my heart to see people who care so much about others' welfare that they put themselves through what must often be disheartening or even faith-shaking encounters. So carry on, do your best, and continue to let your light shine. :) No matter what you do, always remember to be kind and compassionate, and you'll be okay.

I've never had troubles with any of the local JWs who come to the door - they're always very polite and friendly (although some can be annoyingly persistent about not leaving when you ask them to), and most of them I really enjoy talking with. :3 Half the time we just end up chatting about the dogs or how their kids are doing, and then at the end they hand over the magazines, say a couple quick lines about an article or two, and that's the extent of the attempt at conversion. They're usually also willing to let me go on (and on and on and on) about whatever science things we come across during our chat, like octopus eyes or parasite-induced fruit mimicry in ants, so it kind of goes both ways. X3

Unfortunately, there are definitely some JW groups out there that can be quite unpleasant. =/ Those groups are probably aberrations, but I imagine anyone who had terrible experiences with several members of a particular group like that would develop a very negative view of the denomination as a whole. All the JWs I've met have been nice friendly people, but then other people have only (or mostly) encountered rude, pushy or nasty ones, which will almost certainly affect their opinion on the group as a whole, justly or not. It's how people are - we form our opinion of a group based on our experiences with individuals from it, whether those individuals are the best or the worst of them. Of course, opinions can be changed based on new experiences, and very often if you start talking with people who might have a low opinion of your group for whatever reason, and you show them the best of your group, you can change their minds. ^^ In short, don't feel that you have to leave because a couple of people dislike your group at the moment - while it's understandable if you don't want to stick around, you could also have a positive effect on people's opinions if you did stay and chat. :3

In three or less words, what do you want me to put as your religion?

Name: loke
Religion: I'm a Heathen, which is one of the names for those that worship the Nordic gods. But I'm not a regular Heathen and many Heathens wouldn't actually like me since I follow Loki and some Heathens just don't like him. So a lot of times I just identify as Lokean. So you can put me down as either Heathen or Lokean. Oh, and I still follow Jedi teachings, even though I'm not nearly as active in that as I used to be. So I guess I'm a Heathen/Lokean Jedi.
