im currently working two jobs at the moment! ones retail for a chain store in the UK and then the other is Bar work every Friday and Saturday night.

I used to be a manager for a chain restaurant here in the UK however left due to family issues

jk, it's not fun, it sucks. I quit my job one month ago. I was an eye technician. I loved it, honestly - great coworkers, great doctors, and even greater patients. But then our general manager went on maternity leave, and HR took over and did a bad job of taking her place. More people quit in the 3 months of the manager being gone than they had in the past year of me working there!

I was a full-time employee, but around when our manager took a break, there was road construction stewing about. My work was in another city, and it used to take 30-35 minutes to get to work, but with the road construction, it now took 50-55 minutes one way. It all went South - couldn't sleep, had no free time, stressed like crazy. Crying all the time.

I asked HR if I could go part time, and they had the audacity to say no. Yet when our manager was still working here, ANY EMPLOYEE could go part time WHENEVER THEY WANTED. You just needed to give a 2 week heads up for scheduling purposes!
They told me "We have no more part-time positions available". I had never once heard of anyone else being told this.

I struck it out for a month after being told that, but I eventually just had to quit. The company went so downhill from our manager being gone. So many people quit. We're supposed to give a 30-day notice for time off, and you're supposed to be guaranteed to get it. My coworker gave a *60 day notice* for 2 weeks of vacation. He's been a loyal employee for 3 years. HR told him "You can't take the vacation, or the company will go under". Yeah, right. Manipulative butts! We had over 150 employees, the company does NOT and should NOT rely on that one worker.

I still keep in touch with 3 of my former coworkers. All 3 of them told me that almost everyone is gone now-- all of them quit. 2/3 of these coworkers are actively looking for new jobs themselves and plan on quitting soon.

Sorry for the rant, I've just been holding that frustration in! Lol. It's been difficult to find work in my city. It's a college city. I've given up; I'm just going to do Uber and Lyft I think.

Self employed and have been for a while. Support worker, fashion designer, drag artist and educator.

I struggled to be employed by others even though I'm highly skilled so I just kinda gave up and did my own thing, and now I'm making more money at that, than I would being an employee. And I set my own schedule. Yes, I'm working *constantly* and I do genuinely get up to some insane stuff for work but it's the best thing I ever did for my brain. I also don't think I could ever work another way... I can't deal with people telling me what to do, after experiencing this freedom.

I've been working retail for around 5 years now for a big store here in the UK, I actually enjoy it quite a bit, although I will say it's not for everyone, customers can be quite rude sometimes, but the other day I had an absolutely lovely one, he bought me some sweets and chocolates as a thank you, may or may not have cried a lil 😅

I am only doing part time now though, around 16 hours a week, between work and getting 3-4 doctors appointments a week for health conditions, I don't have time to do full time anymore which makes me a lil sad tbh

I'm an admin assistant for a large health care company, in the space management department. basically I help determine where staff work from in each building and assist whenever someone is hired/quits/needs to move to another office. each day at work is completely different, and I get to get out of the office a lot and explore other spaces haha. it's a lot of fun and honestly will probably be something I'll work in for a long while.

HR manager here haha. The time I started collecting stuff on CS is a long time ago (2009?) and I am pretty sure I would never think to be a part of a leading team in the future.

This is actually the reason I decided to quit CS one day. You are busy with payrolls, onboardings, offboardings, communicate a lot and watch everyone so no one breaks any laws like working to much. You are not interested in anything social after such day anymore.

I must say I love my job. Best decision ever.

Currently in a small (under 50 ppl) IT company which was the best decision - I left a big company (over 5000 ppl).
