personally i have nothing against any religion. i have friends in so many different religions its all blurred between boundaries. i just prefer not to dedicate to one single religion for my whole life. its not that im athiest. (no offense to any athiest because i have a few friends who are atheist) i do believe there is a god. just i dont believe that there is only ONE god EVER.

Yeah, I don't know what all the different religions want their people to do, since I still have a few years left to learn about that all [and atm I'm already trying to find out what I can about buddhism], but still, there's the point where some people don't do as they are told.
Usually no one should keep trying to convert people as if it's a job, that's right, but I fear like not all christians stick to the Ten Commandments, not all other people do what they're told.
I never met a Jew trying to convert me, yes, but I just don't know if its because nearly all of them see it like you or because I live in Germany.

No matter what religion/non-religion you look at, there are going to be stereo-types that make the rest of the group look bad. No exceptions. Same thing with pretty much anything else to do with people whether it be race, age, social class, etc.

On the subject of Jehovah's Witnesses, my grandmother became one later in her life and it helped her deal with a lot of past problems and get over them. Even though she would love for me to become religious, it doesn't bother me because I know how important it is for her to have her religion. It's amazing how many people have used religion to get through life problems.

Second, I've only ever had them come to my door once and the rest of my family happened to be away. It was two young ladies and they were absolute sweethearts and were very polite about it all. So there you have the opposite side of the coin.

I dunno, I guess things like this/related to this just don't bother me so long as there is no rudeness involved ^-^

Ugh, don't even get me started on door-to-door preechers. >.> I tell them I don't believe in any of this junk, they hand me a bunch of leaflets I won't read, I tell them that I really don't believe in God, they ask me why I haven't memorised the Lord's prayer(?), I tell them it's because I don't go to church, because once again I don't believe in this, they tell me some stuff about how the world nwas saved by Jesus, and I tell them I really realy don't believe that. They still won't leave, and I'm far too polite to slam the door on them like my dad does with Christmas Carolers(sp?) every year.

Thankfully I live back in the mountains a bit, to where nobody even bothers to come up here, except for the few people who live here. Plus, there is a giant iron gate... Guess I could just say that my house is preecher/carroler, all-in-all people proof.

Despite not having to deal with the door-to-door preechers, they still bug the crap out of me. Sure, I respect that you believe in something that I do not, and I'm glad you are proud about your beliefs, but I don't want it stuffed in my face. If I tell you I don't believe in that kind of stuff, or to leave me alone, don't keep pushing/bugging me.

The funny thing is, is the more people try to push me into a religion, the less I want to believe in it. One of the reasons I'm not a Christian anymore; having to pray with the family all the time, forced to go to Church - even if I didn't go often. I want to believe in what I want believe in, not what you want me to believe in.

My boyfriend has a lot of trouble with door-to-door preachers. He said what works is you act all mad and tell them that they interrupted your goat-sacrificing ritual outside. The preachers at his door all turned white. =P
