any fursuit makers know how to get started?
Welcome to the fursuit thread lol
This probably won't be what you are looking for, but the first thing that I did when I started to build my suits was research. I read as many tutorials and watched as many videos as I could to learn what I needed and different techniques that I could try to see what works best for me (and I am still trying different things to see if I can find what works best for my suits). From there I would recommend that if you plan on building your own suit you look into how much time you have to spend on your suit, and how much money you hope to spend on the suit, these are expensive and sometimes very lengthy projects. I don't know what kinds of stores you have around you, but I know you can find some foam at places like Jo-Ann's or Walmart in the USA (sorry I'm Canadian so we have different stores). I would also suggest sketching out your suit from at least a side profile angle, if not a frontal and back sketch, so you can get a better idea of what you hope to build. I find it helpful to get a friend to take a picture of me and then I put it onto a computer program, trace around my body's outline, and then "build" (sketch) the suit off my outline so I can see where foam would sit. After you find where you can get your supplies for approximately what you hope to spend you can then begin to slowly start putting your knowledge of what you read or watched on the tutorial toward building your suit!
I am not sure if that helped to answer your question. If it didn't please feel free to ask something else and I'm sure people here at the club would be glad to help to answer your question!
