frustrated as to why everything has to come back to my fault. Even when I am not innocent of the damage caused, there were others at fault too. But no point to dwell on it, I'll just keep moving forward and apologize if I have to

Relieved.

Backstory: I'm currently living with my boyfriend in Canada, I'm from the US. I had my car parked on the street as we didn't have room in the driveway and it got hit around 12:30am. Thankfully I was awake and saw the truck before it drove off. The guy driving abandoned his truck, which was actually his companies truck and walked home. He lives just down the street. The cops went to his door and although he claimed to not have been driving, they found his ID in the truck and he smelled of alcohol. It's been a huge stress on me and my partner trying to deal with insurance and such.

The good part out of this story is that they deemed it a total loss and towed the car today, meaning I don't have to worry about it anymore and they're covering the cost of the car which is 21k. Not sure if I want another car, as this city is very walkable, but who knows.
