I've started saving money so I can, hopefully, in the next year or so, make myself a tail and ears <3 anyone know where I could get fairly cheap fur? I wanna know so that I can make myself a note to check it out cause I'm forgetful lol

Hey I’m excited to be starting another head of my character nigiri (check sig)

Anyway it’s almost impossible for me to find the colours of the salmon! Then I started thinking about fleece. Joann which I have several gift cards for has low priced fleece and I was thinking I would do a fleece faced head? Turns out this isn’t a completely horrible idea since if you google it, you can see there’s tons of great suits with fleece.

It’s cheaper and easier to get in the colour I need. It wouldn’t be the whole suit, just the smooth salmon like parts. The rest would be faux fur.. If anyone has comments about my idea, please share! I want to make sure this wouldn’t be a mistake!

while i think fleece would be fine, may i recommend minky fabric instead? it has a wide variety of colors and is short and smooth. in my opinion it would look more professional than fleece (as fleece tends to pill over time, making it look a bit raggedy.) it's the kind or fabric that people use for plushes and such. my personal favorite brand of minky fabric is shannon, with the cuddle 3 collection. you can find it for sale on fabric.com, but since the reference images on there aren't the most accurate, i would reference colors from either the shannon website or these swatches by nazegoreng (1 2 3 4.) you can also probably find shannon fabrics at your local joann or some other fabric store.

good luck with your suit-making! if you do decide to use minky fabric for the salmon-colored parts, i'd like to suggest coral, tomato, or papaya as a color choice ^^
i'd love to see any wips of the head, by the way!

I did look at mink and I can see it’s advantage. My only problem with it is that my parents are extremely hesitant when I make online purchases and watch over what I buy very closely. Thank you so much for the links and man, those colours were spot on! I think I’ll take your advice on pilling and make sure I get Anti-pill. Again it’s just hard that I can’t really buy stuff online...

Anyway hopefully I’ll start the head soon. I’m saving money (by selling a dog blank I never finished :p) so hopefully I can get that sold and then have more than enough money to make the Nigiri head. I’ll be sure to update as much as I can.



Also my reason for it being fleece and plush is that it is like actually salmon XD I hope the contrast of mediaa will be in my favour. My last suit had a fleece beak so I know how the material works when crafting. Thanks again for the info!

hi! im planning to make my boy into a fursuit shortly but im having trouble finding faux fur in the right colors
heres a ref of him, below. id need a red that is about 60-70% saturated and this weird almost turquoise blue color nobody seems to be making.

Looking at Fabric.com, this is what I got

I have a pair of paws made with the baby blue luxury shag if you want me to take some comparison pics to get a more accurate color idea. Also most places sell sample swatches for $1-$2 each so you know exactly what it looks like. Fursuitsupplies.com and Howlfabrics.com are also places to try, they’re both furry companies and can have more unique color options than fabric stores.

Not really sure what to do with her since I’m too lame to go to cons. Anybody have any suggestions on when I can wear it? Just sorta bored with it right now lol so I’m throwing stuffed animals at it instead XD

I also think I’m going to redo her eyes with buckram- I honestly don’t like how the suit looks and maybe fixing this will make it look less bad (?) any suggestions or tips for painting or working with buckram?
