Dear One Direction,
Around the beginning of August, 2011, I began trying to starve myself. I'd been called fat or chubby all my life, and it finally started getting to me. Not to mention people making fun of me for my health problems. I've had them since I got very sick as a baby, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. I refused to wear shorts anywhere in public, not even to beaches.
Later in August and in early September I started getting violently sick a few times every day, and I hadn't lost any weight, which I didn't realize till later. None of my friends knew about my problems until I had one of them over for a sleepover and they heard me getting sick. They immediately tried to talk to me, but I wouldn't let them and I asked my mom to drive her home. Before she left she told me to look up a song called "What Makes You Beautiful". I figured it'd be some stupid cheesy song, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
After listening to that song and the rest of the album when it came out, I started feeling much better about myself. I gradually started eating again and exercising, and eventually I even wore shorts to school. Sadly, my friend who introduced me to your music moved away shortly after, but I'll always remember her. She helped me get better, with a little help from you guys. <3
