Intrepid: I hate this word so much. It doesn’t help that so many people use it. It sounds so annoying, I don’t know why but it bothers me a lot!
Here to stay: I don’t know when this saying became popular but… why? I’ll read a really good article about the history of something, then at the end, “but it’s here to stay.” Nothing's here to stay, things change and evolve and improve, and it also sounds arrogant in a way. It ruins it, at least for me. ;-;
Out of the woods: Don't hate it but people use it way too much.
Sucrose: I don't know why but when I hear this, it makes me feel really ill and funny. Ew
Jolly: Again don't hate this word but I hear it in every conversation, usually as “jolly good”. I feel like it’s been around for too long now, it just feels really old fashioned to me.
Crusty: One word - ew.
Cutesy: Ew.
Woman: I don’t really consider myself a woman because when I think of a woman, I think of a middle aged, highly stereotypical “girly girl” female. Perhaps this one's more a product of society and sexism.
Zoomer: I hated this word before, but now Gen Z seems to of been renamed this. It sounds so childish.
Significant other/other half: This bothers me a bit because partners are their own separate people, and it sounds like they can’t be complete without each other?
Immature: I don’t hate this word, but I always get called it for the wrong reason. If something troubles me, or I'm having an anxiety attack, or one of my phobias is affecting me, why am I then immature? People also use it as an excuse to baby me or patronise me.
Intelligence: This word bothers me because it pops up too much and matters too much to too many people. I hate intelligence and IQ tests because they’re inaccurate. My skills are creativity and writing, but I always get low scores because I have dyscalculia and I’m pretty average at everything else. Some very intelligent people I know have also got low results. I also hate it when people use it as an excuse to bully others, or to justify their actions.
Zucchini: It’s a courgette >:( My friends keep using it to be trendy and encourage healthy eating, but it irritates me.
Cringe: Well, this word does what it’s meant to!
