They just evolved gradually. From microscopic little organisms that began laying eggs, over millions of years those egg laying creatures evolved into chickens egg by egg by egg until VOILA we got chickens.
Then humans domesticated them so now they can't fly. cx
Or maybe they're aliens that come down to Earth. THEY FLEW HERE.
