Hey man, I don't mind how long it takes :3 I know how weird and fluctuating art block/drive is~ xD
Sooo guys, do you consider anthropomorphic/personified objects to be relevant to furries? For example, would you gladly welcome a pixar lamp-type thing to join your anthro chars? o3o Just wondering where you all draw the line ahah~
I was thinking about that because I saw my brother's lamp with glasses put on it today, and I called it an anthrolamp :B I know furries are fans of anthropomorphic animals, but perhaps some just like anthropomorphic everything? ^^'

For me I draw the line at animals. I don't care what kind of animal it is, bird, mammal, bug...don't care but that's where I stand. I do find it cute how some people personify food/objects but I just can't wrap my mind around them being "anthropomorphic" considering they almost always keep their original "shape" and not that of a human (other than a face sometimes.). Anthropomorphic means having humanistic traits. I don't think slapping a happy, cute face on a cupcake is really all that human. I mean yes, it's a face, but it's a cupcake. It doesn't look anything like a human body wise.
Eh...just how I see it anyways. Good topic though, looking forward to what others think on this.

I, also, draw the line at animals. Like, to me, a lamp with a face is just a lamp with some personification with it, which to me, is different than anthropomorphization (No clue how to spell...), really. I pretty much agree with Moggy on this one, I don't really have anything unique to add at the moment.

I don't really have much of a viewpoint but I'm gonna throw some things out there for the sake of discussion! 8D
If simply adding a face and human voice does not count as anthropomorphism- then quad anthros wouldn't count either, correct? (Like the dogs in 101 Dalmatians or the chars in The Lion King)
And what would you guys say is the difference between personification and anthropomorphic things? I think it's that, personification is describing/comparing something that would normally happen to the object, in a way a person would do it. For example, a branch being hit against a window by the wind, could be described as clawing at it. But it's really not doing anything human-like.
However, if the branch was anthropomorphic, it would purposefully claw at the window, and would perhaps have flexible, arm-like branches.

I don't know. Furries usually have to do with animals and already living things, but I guess you could extend it to inanimate objects. it certainly wouldn't be the strangest thing in the fandom.
Come to think of it, I think I had a stapler as a character once. I should trying drawing it again. xD
And then there's the magic carpet in Aladdin that acted like a dog...
So I really don't know either way.

I've seen amazing non-animal anthros done, and actually prefer them over animals. A gorgeous curvy lamp woman, or a stout teapot man. And what about Beauty and the Beast? Anthros all around! I love it so much, and find it incredibly amazing. I see anthro animals often, but rarely do I see anthro inanimate objects.
I actually really want to a have a new character whom is an anthropomorphic tree now.

Okay, I guess I really have no clue where I stand on the subject, when I think about it. I guess it would just depend example by example for me.
Oooh a anthromorphic tree, awesome!

I'd like to be a tree~
Over the hills and far away,
she prays he will return one day.
As sure as the rivers reach the seas,
back in his arms is where she'll be.
