A chicken cant just spawn like they do on minecraft, so it possibly could just be a crossbreed between other animals or a mutation.
There would have to have been two chickens 'spawn', a hen and a rooster, a hen cant just lay a fertile egg with no rooster.
The chickens would also have to have 'spawned' in adulthood, because if there was two chicks they would have no hope in surviving with no brooder or mother hen. So the chickens would have had to 'spawn' in adulthood to survive long enough to mate and have the egg in the first place, that makes it even more unlikely that the chicken came first.
But if the egg came first, there would have been no hen or incubator to incubate it so it could actually hatch unless a different animal incubated it, which I doubt an animal would incubate an egg which is not from their kind.
Another thing I don't understand is if the egg came first all the chickens would be inbred, because the two chicks that hatched from the eggs would be related.
There would also have to have been two eggs, so the question should actually be 'what came first, the chickens or the eggs?' because there needs to be a hen and a rooster to have chicks in the first place.

The 'first chicken' wouldn't be a perfect chicken. It'd breed with a similar avian type I assume, and through mutation in offspring and generations, we have the domesticated chicken. And to be honest, other than humans, I think animals in their natural habitats could care less about their lines being inbred haha.

What came first: The chicken or the egg? Obviously the egg. Dinosaurs layed eggs before chickens even existed.
What came first: The Chicken or the chicken egg?: Again, the egg. When the first chicken was bred, two birds that weren't quite chickens were bred together. The female then layed the egg that hatched into the first chicken.

I always thought I might be bad
now I'm sure that it's true
cause I think you're so good
and I'm nothing like you.
Look at you go
I just adore you
I wish that I knew
What makes you think
I'm so special?

well on a non-Christian view, the egg had to come first because dinosaurs.
on a Christian view, the chicken- God could create a chicken without an egg, two chickens probably because precisely how could an egg get on without a male and a female chicken?

I say neither because the egg has to be made by the chicken and the chicken has to be made by the egg which has to be created by a chicken who was hatched by an egg that was laid by a chicken and so forth....
THE QUESTION IS A PARADOX.

@~Koda~
The egg. It fell out of the sky and hatched a chicken.
butbutbutbut.....
Wouldn't the egg crack and the wee little chicken die?
