Have a look on deviantart.com and see how people draw cats, look at styles of drawing them, and your bound to find a few tutorials on there too ;)

I'm not allowed on dA; it gives my computer viruses. D:

How am I to cite a drawing from a how-to book? I'd like to show an example of what I am capable of doing so far, with a guide and all, but it would need to be cited since it is not my original art...

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is good for getting rid of the DA viruses (especially the annoying 'Vista Antivirus Pro')

I fail at cats, so I'm not sure how much help I can be. One thing I did to improve my dog drawings was watch lots of dog cartoons and look at the lines of art on DA. I also watched lots of reality dog shows on Nat Geo to see the lines and movement and stuff. X3. How they bend. So maybe looking at lots of cat pictures might help?

I know how it is, trying to trace - Mine come out looking like aliens when I try.

What helps me when drawing cats is to think about what makes a cat...a cat. Their grace, their effortless movements. The sun shining on their fur, the glint in their eyes when they laugh at you.

Cats are mainly smooth contour lines. Fur can be suggested by adding frayed lines here and there.
Shading...can't help you there. Sorry. :oops:

" Ah. If you need drawing tips, a good one would be to use Basic Construction...espesially when drawing cats, seeing how they have round, circular heads. Listening to music is a very good tip too, and you need to listen to the kind that fits your mood or emotion at the moment. Another good tip would be before drawing, always sit or even lay down in a position that makes you comfortable. Remember, comfort and mood usually effect your art when drawing."

Thank-you for the wonderful advice, everyone! <3

Unfortunately, my drawing has not improved much (if it has at all...). I suppose I'm simply hopeless. I've been working on my shading, though. I completely failed when I tried the ball-shading technique, though. I just fail at everything. :lol:

If you have any cats that live around you, try looking at them? I drew my best cat after a stray started hanging out on my front porch. (I named her Magic. |D But she seems to have disappeared. Magic cat.)

I actually have a cat. C: I use her when I want to study anatomy, but she doesn't seem to help much; she's quite small for her age, and some of her features are quite odd. o.o;
