Things that annoy you.

the amount of people who post on all the oekaki drawings saying stuff like 'omg cool u used a tablet right?' 'omg wow i bet u used a tablet' 'omg u didnt use a tablet?? wow u must be some kind of god then!!!'

I've known a lot of amazingly good digital artists who drew stunning pictures using a computer mouse, and owning a tablet is certainly no magic ticket to being a good artist. I wish people would stop giving more credit to the technology than the actual skill shown in the drawings.

Yeah, I love my tablet, but when I first got it, I discovered that it's just as hard as a mouse to use. I had to practice for over a year before I was finally able to use it and get a good result, and I know that if I spent that much time with a mouse, I could have learned how to use it properly just as "easily." Tablet ≠ instant artistic success. xD Actually, one of my favorite artists doesn't use a tablet; her stuff amazes me. x3

I also hate all the image descriptions on the oekaki which say stuff like "i hate it it sucks" made by the artist, on the artist's own drawing ... attention seeking!!! if you hated it so badly, why bother posting it? self-deprecating comments like that actually deter me from commenting at all, so guys seriously, if you want some support then don't begin by telling people what is wrong with you art. Be proud of what you've done and others will join in.

I was actually coming to this thread to complain about that. o.o It drives me crazy when people say stuff like "OMG lol worst drawing ever *cough*plztellmeit'samazing*cough*" I mean, I know I'm critical of my art, but I don't think it's bad so I never say it is. The only time you'll ever see me outright say my art is bad is if I'm posting old art; if it's current and I don't like it, well, I throw it away. xD (or sometimes I keep it so that I can laugh at it in a few years) So I usually don't comment on anyone's artwork that seems attention-seeking, just like I don't typically post in threads where people are complaining about how much their lives suck. >.>;;

I also hate the kids who go all 'wah wah im quitting everyone hates me'.... seriously kid, most people didn't know who you were (and didn't care) until you went and brought all this negative attention upon yourself. Congrats, now everyone genuinely DOES hate you, so you'd better follow through with your quitting plans...

Unfortunately, there's always a person or two who egg them on by saying "NOOOO DON'T LEAVE!! I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT I LOVE YOU NOW SO PLEASE STAY!!!!"

hmm, I get annoyed by people who swoon over mods/admins/ect. . . even newbie helpers, because they have an inside to the site. They're just normal people after all >.>

And to add even more to that tablet thing:

Don't hate people who have tablets. They didn't magically become amazing because they got one, they have the art they make because they practice. Sure a tablet does help most artists, but it's no excuse to just brush off someone's art as a pointless scribble because they have a tablet and you don't. Art is art no matter what they used. Same goes for photoshop, and tablet users with photoshop.

My friend was saying how much better she was at art because she uses a mouse and the oekaki and that actually takes skill the other day. When i tried to defend myself she said "I bet if i had a tablet I'd kick your -insert rude word for donkey here-"

Pretty much sounded to me like, "You're art is only good because of what you use to draw it." Hahah, no. I could draw with a mouse before and you agreed that I was a good drawer with it. I don't think much has changed here.

Thats pretty much the whole purpose of their pity partys. "random strangers, come and tell me how awesome I am and how horrible it would be if I left!!!!11"

I mean really, if your gonna make such a big deal about it, just leave. No one will really miss you .-.

Bah, whoever does that is either an attention seeking brat or someone who seriously thinks the world revolves around them.

Though what bothers me more is when they come back the next day like nothing happenned. I'll be surprised if anyones actually ever quite after a message like that.


Aaaaaand I hate when people say something absolutely lame and not funny and they expect you to laugh! D8 And when you don't there's this really big awkward silence. (<--- tad offtopic)

Yeah, when someone goes "OMG a mod quoted me!!!!111" I usually roll my eyes. xD I definitely respect most of our staff members, but that doesn't mean I feel the need to get down on my knees and worship them. >.>;;
