Are you a Band Geek?

I'm an uber banddork, though I've graduated and no longer have band classes. :3

I've been playing the flute since sixth grade, and I've been in the most advanced band in both middle and high schools for all but two of those years. xD I marched competitively and played in the Pep Band for four years. Extremely fun.

And I'm good at playing by ear, too, Sweet Fur. I've learned to play several Linkin Park songs that way, haha.

I know all of them on guitar (I have an entire book of tabs), but I only know BTH, LOATR, and TLTGYA on flute, by heart. I also know my PB folder by heart... it's got about thirty to forty songs in there. :3

Nice! That's how I start memorizing. Eventually I start remembering the notes by themselves, which helped me teach others how the music goes.

another thing that helps me is that, when i play the piano ir clarinet, i feel the pattern through my fingers...it's wierd but i memorize that pattern and it makes me concentrate

Let's see... how much of a Band Geek am I..?

I play, Flute, Piccolo in the top band in our high school, also I play clarinet and trumpet, and kind of the piano. Whenever I hear a song, I dissect it, figuring out the key signature and time it's played in... Sing my parts in classes other than band. xD And whenever together with other band friends randomly burst in to past songs that we've played, each singing our part and confusing the heck out of every other kid around us. x3

XD i play alto sax in our high school and middle school band. ya see, our school is tiny, and there are 14 people in band (i live in a tiny town in VT). our conductor picks really easy music, and it is SO BORING! lol, i still don't consider myself as a band geek...i sort of classify myself as an...epically awesome band freak. thats right. IM AN EPICALLY AWESOME BAND FREAK AND DARN PROUD OF IT!!XD

Personally, I prefer smaller bands. ^_^ But, My school has 80 kids in the regular band, and 40 in the advanced band, which makes it difficult to balance and blend. u_u
