you should only go for a part if you are truly determined to perform for it, and that part its what you feel you would be best at, for example there is no point in auditioning for the mad hatter if you are suited more for the Cheshire cat, so ask the organiser for the script, and see what part fits you best, and there is no point in fretting about being the perfect actor, because there is no point in it, performing arts are meant to be fun, during rehearsals and the final performance itself, so let the fun motivate you and dont "over practice" so that you are perfect ( some of the best parts in films weren't scripted) but dont be lazy either. so if you get your part, take the rehearsals in your stride, practice singing infront of the mirror with a hair brush, get to know who you will be performing with (and mess around a bit XD) and most of all, enjoy yourself, because there is no point in doing it if you cant be bothered
