Inappropriate as in the actual real wars going on currently? I obviously won't go in deeper about them here.
Aliens and cryptids are incredibly different from a potential reality, or a reality now to those in living in their country's conflict. (Or know someone who does.)
Cryptids are obviously fictional and not real.
Honestly I was shocked with the item set from last Halloween, and I didn't think it was in good taste then.
I'd enjoy a medical event, but I absolutely know it would not be appropriate and have never even thought about suggesting it. There are plenty of people afraid or grossed out by hospitals, needles, machines, etc..
Maybe there are members who are frequently in and out of the hospital, and don't want something that's supposed to be fun reminding them they are sick!
I can find another way to enjoy my medical interests, without forcing them on others and expecting people to suck it up. Or telling them not to participate as if it's perfectly okay to alienate some people in order to get a specific theme.
The nightmares I have about fallout, apocalyptic settings, nuclear meltdown, whatever, make me afraid to sleep for days. And even if I didn't participate, as you so rudely suggested, the pets from that event will now be plastered everywhere, never being able to escape it.
This is the first year I've felt dread instead of excitement for a summer event.
Hey, while I absolutely get where you are coming from, everyone is going to have different triggers and things they can't stand, or have phobias of. Unfortunately with as wide of a demographic as a site like this has, they can't reasonably avoid every single person's phobias, fears, or triggers. It is up to you to manage those and curate your space as well as you can, just like there are many people on CS who have arachnophobia and clearly list on their trade groups or profiles that they don't want to be shown or sent spiders, scorpions, etc.
We've had pets that are living dolls like the 2017 staff pet that turned form a cute doll into a creepy, cracked, one eyed haunted looking doll. We have clown pets, which is a common phobia/trigger, as well as pets centered around what would be considered body horror, such as stitched closed mouths, eyes, extra heads, bodies covered in eyes, and pets that looked stitched together. These are all themes that can commonly be triggering to people.
I also feel that this theme doesn't have to mirror real life, nor does it have to be based on something like war. The idea is simply the decline of modern civilization and all it's conveniences, and learning to survive and adapt to the environment you find yourself in, even shows like The Walking Dead are considered apocalyptic in nature. I would never ask someone to like something they don't, but expecting a site to cater to ever single person's personal phobias is just impossible, we wouldn't have any pets at all because there is someone out there with a phobia or trigger for most anything you can think of.
Also, considering the Halloween item set had floating islands with cities in the sky, I don't see how it isn't obviously geared towards a fantasy concept, similar to the desert planet/wasteland from Trigun, which was having it's surge of popularity again at that time due to the release of Trigun Stamped, and not real life.

There are some many good themes here it’s hard to stick to just a few ideas haha
I second all the Wild West ideas! Maybe we visit a ranch by an old town and there’s a little roleplay going on? Perhaps some rivalry between two separate businesses fighting for tourists. (Maybe it’s founded on an old family feud..?) In the end they realize their rivalry is actually bringing in more tourists and by working together and putting on good shows they can benefit each other greatly. There’s a lot of potential in the pet department with cows, horses, bison, snakes, scorpions, and coyotes. Some desert themed Cryptids would be neat. You can even introduce a few “alien” pets as a play on Cowboys vs Aliens.
Honestly this theme as stuck on as an idea in my head for years. It would be really cool to see it realized!
