I feel like we were all scared of monsters as a kid. These are a few of my monsters.

The Butt-Eating Monster

Ah ha ha ha I WAS A WEIRD CHILD. We've all been there as kids, right? Scared that something is gonna drag us into the toilet or down the shower drain? Well, the Butt-Eating Monster lived in my toilet and only woke up after dark. He was a blue furry monster (imagine Sully from Monsters INC crossed with Cookie Monster) and would always try to eat people's butts. However, he would settle for an offering of human waste instead of your butt.

YEAH I WAS A WEIRD KID.

Big Twelvetoes and Little Twelvetoes

When I was a kid, I watched this ONE Schoolhouse Rock video about counting by sixes, featuring this alien with twelve fingers and toes named Little Twelvetoes. FOR SOME REASON THIS SCARED THE SNOT OUT OF ME AS A KID. I dreamed about this blue long nosed alien boi and a slightly larger version of him. I'm not sure why I found Little Twelvetoes so scary, but I would always skip that one Schoolhouse Rock video, EVERY time.

The Shadow
Basically a humanoid shadow with a distorted face that only exists in the dark. The Shadow follows me TO THIS DAY and is only there in dark spaces. Light makes it go away.

Me now: *a horror/sci-fi/fantasy writer* PATHETIC

This is... The Monster. I didn't make it up, it's from a movie I really like and watched all the time as a kid, but I think it still counts. I wasn't scared of it? I actually REALLY liked it!! I thought it was super cool and I actually used to cry when the monster died when I was little. Basically, it's a giant, mutated fish from the Han River that developed as a result of government negligence and dumping toxic chemicals into the Han River.

I had this recurring nightmare about this weird creature thing when I was a little kid. I called it: the sun bad dream.
The sun bad dream was a sun with an expressionless face that walked around. I don't think it had any heat emanating from it, and I don't remember if it emanated light. The sun bad dream would stalk me, follow me around, and wouldn't talk. It would always be walking at a normal pace, not running or flying (though in some dreams it would be positioned on the wall as if it were a decoration). The worst part about the sun bad dream was that in my dreams, I was the only one able to see it. I remember one dream where I saw it walking down the stairs and I ran to my mom who was doing the dishes and begged her to pick me up (I was still little enough where that was a thing and it comfoted me) but she said no because her back hurts. The dreams would always end before he got to me. Another dream was that it was following me through a store lol. It especially loved stalking me when I was in a bathroom. The light would go out, I wouldn't be able to open the door, and I'd be trapped in the pitch black darkness knowing the sun bad dream was coming after me.

I don't think I thought it was a real monster besides being a recurring nightmare, but I was a little scared of using the bathroom sometimes.

I also had an irrational fear over my electronics (computer, TV, game consoles) coming alive, growing eyes, talking to me, and trying to get me.

But the sun bad dream is the only fictional monster I remember being scared of as a kid. I attached a few example images of what it kind of resembled.







Edit: I got a butterfly wolf that looks like it and I named it accordingly lol

i used to be so scared that golden freddy was going to break into my house and there was this specific image of him thatd always be on my mind when i was trying to sleep

Bag monsters
they were these creatures with specifically those whole foods paper bags over most of their bodies and they had these sorta shadowy legs. I was terrified of them

look, hear me out. i was at a classmate's birthday party, and they had this weird tree in their house. the floor was covered with leaves from that tree.

they had such a weird design that i was aware of them all night. i couldn't stop thinking about it.
i had multiple nightmares of that leaf just having a weird energy surrounding it... it wouldnt do anything in my dreams other than just exist, but i knew that thing was evil as hell.

it still appears in my dreams sometimes, to this day. lol

Never really experienced this (that I can remember), but once when I was around 5, I had a dream about a walking skeleton and couldn't tell if it was a dream or not. Was spooky.

@Squecca, I would be unnerved if I had "the sun bad dream" and I'm an adult. That thing is unsettling.
