Gemstones, Geodes, and Rocks

I don't know if this is already a thing, so my apologies if it is, but I think CS needs a place to ask questions about rocks, advice, whatever.

Umm I have two rocks; one is a Black Quartz and the other is a Amethyst geode (?).

The mall shop claims it is a Amethyst, but I don't know since it also had a gold color to it. Picture of both are below.

I'm not quite sure why the Black Quartz's picture is making it look more of a purple tint, but I think it's just my flash since it is confirmed Black Quartz.

I think the amethyst is genuine but appears to have been treated at high heat and coated with metal (I don't remember the exact name for this treatment) which gives it an appearance similar to aura quartz. Hope this kinda helped!?

That makes sense. The pictures I was looking up of treated Amethyst looked like that
