sociology question for college!

one of the college courses that I'm currently taking is sociology. Today, she wants us to participate in a worldview activity, and asked us to also get the opinions of others (since some of us are online, she wants this to be a mock of what it would be like in class). You can leave as long of a message as you'd like - I was genuinely curious what other people would do in this situation.

assignment question & scene; you're taking a vacation on a cruise ship, and over the last few days you've gotten to learn more about each of the other passengers. Suddenly the ship starts to sink into the ocean, and you happen to get on one of the only working safety boats. As the other passengers are drowning, you are able to save 6 of them - but not at once. What order do you save them and why?

- Male, 21, single, Muslim American. He is an Eagle Scout who wishes to attend medical school after graduating from Duke University with a double major in biology and chemistry.
- Female, 65, widow, Native American. A retired school teacher, she reluctantly took the cruise at her children's request after the passing of her husband.
- Trans man, 37, married, Caucasian American. He owns his own business; a popular nightclub frequented by a-list celebrities, but the police make frequent busts on the premises.
- Male, 43, single, Asian American. He is a savvy, Wall street stock broker with potential to someday become CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
- Female, 16, single, Hispanic American. The only child of hard-working immigrants, she is a DACA recipient. She was voted best personality at her private catholic high school where she is a cheerleader and captain of the debate team.
- Female, 30, married, African American. The first woman in her family to graduate from college. She is a registered nurse and is also three months pregnant with her first child.

now, take a minute to think who'd you save and why. after making your final decisions, move on to the next part. DO NOT LOOK AT THE NEXT PART UNLESS YOU HAVE MADE YOUR FINAL DECISIONS!

- the first male has been diagnosed with leukemia and has been told he has less than a year to live.
- next, the 65 year old woman. she murdered her husband.
- the trans man is married to the pregnant nurse that was on the same cruise. he spent the entire cruise talking about the nursery plans.
- the stock broker man uses tax loopholes to avoid paying much in taxes and lobbies the government on behalf of his company to create more tax breaks.
- the 16 year old girl is an atheist.
- *cannot comment on this one because it's about politics*

- the first man was misdiagnosed.
- the woman killed her husband in self defense while protecting her children from him
- the trans man is a preacher and inherited the property from their distant family and never even stepped foot onto the property
- the stock broker man is a single father of two small children
- the 16 year old plans on enlisting in the army
- the pregnant nurse has an addiction to illegal substances

again, would you change your decisions? why or why not?

Realistically I would save them based on who's closest to me or who is the having the worst time staying afloat but I will assume they can all tread water fine/have working life vests on and are somehow equidistant from one another and myself.

For the first section, my order would be:
-21 yo, similar in age range, would likely go for the one I see as a peer first
-16 yo, same as above, similar age range
-30 yo, is pregnant, a sinking ship and freezing ocean are not good for a baby
-65 yo, has children
-43 yo, as an Asian myself I would probably think of him as an uncle and go for him next due to cultural upbringing
-37 yo, married but doesn't have kids as far as I know

Second section:
-(0) 21 yo, leukemia def wouldn't knock him down so...
-(0) 16 yo, belief, or lack thereof, doesn't change standing either, same as above, interesting how she's an atheist even though she goes to private Catholic though
-(0) 30 yo, still pregnant
-(+2) 37 yo, if I save the pregnant woman, I have to save her husband/the baby's father next
-(-1) 65 yo, still has kids, I don't know why she murdered her husband, might've been self-defense, her kids still talk too her
-(-1) 43 yo, doesn't have kids or is married to anyone on the boat, sorry, hope your taxes go bad??

Third Section:
-(0) 21 yo, idk man I'd just go for my friends first, he could've been a classmate of mine, hope his doc figures things out
-(0) 16 yo, same as above, army gives you college money, gotta do what you gotta do, I just hope they're cool with her being DACA
-(0) 30 yo, still pregnant and in very cold saltwater, for the baby's sake I hope she's stopping; addiction to what? coffee? illegal substances? phone? too vague to make any judgements on
-(0) 37 yo, still gotta save the rest of the pair if you already got one of em
-(+1) 43 yo, has small children, don't want them to have to go to foster care or anything, still hope you learn something about taxes after this
-(-1) 65 yo, I was right it was self-defense! Her kids are likely around 25+ unlike the other parents on board who have kids on the way or are very young

In the end though, all 6 of them would've been saved so eh. Should've probably went after the pregnant woman first but I know my first instinct would be to go for my friends in my age range cause those would be the people I'm closer too. Wouldn't want any orphaned children either but again, they're all going to be saved at the end.
