The vaquita is a small, rare porpoise that lives only in the shallow, murky water in the northern region of the Gulf of California.
The vaquita is the words smallest porpoise and the only one to adapt to living in warm water.
There are less than 30 vaquitas left in the world!! This is due to fishing industries. These small porpoises get caught in nets like Gill nets that are illegally used.
The vaquitas get stuck in the invisible to them nets and they drown.
Gillnets have caused a significant decline in many ecologically important species and are the number one cause of the vaquita’s decline.
