Not sure what that cute dog you just adopted from the shelter is? Finally curious about what that dog you've had for ages is? This is the place to ask! We'll suggest what breeds we think have gone into your dogs!

We need specific types of images in order to be able to look at bone structure and see underneath your dog's fluff. We will not even begin to be able to give you an accurate identification with that cute candid you took of Fluffy playing with her favoritest toy ever. It's also preferable if the pictures are taking outside in bright sunlight with minimal flash. Exceptions can be made considering the time of year but as much uncolored light as possible is helpful.
We will need one picture of each of the following types:
Stacked, side In order to get the best effect, the dog's feet should be squared, the camera should be level with the dog's shoulders and aimed straight on at the middle of their body. Dog should be looking ahead of it and head up and tail should be out.
Stacked, front Same requirements as previous minus the tail. Pro tip: Have the camera person holding a treat or toy and calling to the dog to get it to look straight at them. The head is important!
Close up head profile
A dog's height should be measured while the dog is standing in the stacked position and is measured from the top of the dog's shoulders to the bottom of their paws.

Rules:
1) As always, all of the normal forum rules apply.
2) People are not being mean if they tell you your dog has serious conformation faults or is overweight. They're simply concerned about your dog and telling you to exercise caution.
3) Dogs should be at least a year old. 18 months is even better. All puppies pretty much look the same and we'll not be able to give you a guess for your 8 week old. As they get older, they go through some pretty wonky stages. It's best to wait until they've stopped being all awkward.
4) We reserve the right to say 'we don't know' or that your dog is a Heinz 57 mutt (meaning unidentifiable). Some dogs just have so many breeds in them or have such wonky conformation that it's impossible to tell.
5) People offering guesses at breeds should refrain from saying a dog looks like a rare breed. It's highly unlikely that that mutt you picked up off the street or plucked off of death row is a rare breed.
6) People offering guesses should actually KNOW dog breeds and have a decent understanding of conformation and dog genetics.
7) No comments from the peanut gallery over there on how cute soandso's dog is. Message them if you must express how much you're squeeing over a person's dog.
8) These guesses are just that. Guesses. We can not say for certain without a shadow of a doubt what any dog is.
9) People are allowed to disagree with you on that dog you just guessed on. Everyone is different and sees things differently.
10) Sometimes we may only be able to give a generic answer like husky or bully breed mix. Some breed traits tend to be more dominate when being passed ot their offspring and some breed types tend to look to similar.
