A sugar glider is a small marsupial from Australia and native Islands. They are only a few inches long without there tail, they have a pouch like a kangaroo. In captivity they can live up to 12-15 years they are omnivorous. They have loose skin attached to there front legs and back legs making them able to glide. In nature they live in pairs of 10 or more so they are social animals. They remind me of tiny monkeys ^.^
Sugar Glider Gliding

Sugar glider should have every night some fresh fruits and/or vegetables along with a protein diet. Every few days they should have some insects. Most people, including me like to give them mealworms. You can also give them crickets, but make sure what they use as bedding and feeding for the crickets. Since some times it can be dangerous for your little boogers. You should also feed them pellets, not as a main meal though. As treats you can give them insects, a drop of honey, cereal with no sugar, mini marshmallow, pumpkin seeds (mine love it), dried fruits and many many more. Fell free to ask me (or other experienced glider owners) if you are not sure of some kind of food/treat.

If you spend allot of time with your glider you will most likely be able to bond with he or she. Once you are bonded, the glider will fell safe on you. It might even (if you are a girl) sleep in your bra or pocket, some times in your hand. They will not try to jump some where else. If you are not bonded to your suggie(s) you can try bonding in a small glider proofed room. Like a bathroom or shower, bring treats and toys. It can take a few days to bond to a few years. Never give up :3 Also you can buy a bonding pouch, witch can help with your bonding.

Your glider should have a pretty food sized cage of at least 24x24x36 inches for a pair of sugar gliders. The bigger the better. Sugar gliders are nocturnal meaning they are up at night. They love to play and jump, so to make your glider happy have toys in the cage. Like wheels, branches, fleece toys, hammocks, tunnels, pouches, bells, ropes ect! It is very interesting to watch them play at night.

Your sugar glider should have an other buddy glider friend. It is very important since in the wild they live in colonies. You might think you are they best glider mommy/daddy and spent allot of time with your glider. But I do not think you can stay up all night playing in there cage gliding around, communicating with them, grooming each other, sleeping in the same pouch ect. Some sugar gliders can even start eating them selves in extreme cases, eating there fingers and tail.

Before even thinking of adopting a sugar glider research, research and research even more. I just told you the basics and there is many other things to do. Every day you have to cut up fruits and veggies and give them a special diet you have to make. You should spend at least one hour with your sugar glider every single day. Provide a nice clean and large cage with many toys. If you buy your first gliders, a cage, toys and food it can easily cost you more then $1000 (for two classic grey colored glider without breeding rights only) so the first ones you buy will not be cheap.
