c:
I would like to add myself here.
Pareidolia (Lia or Dillydally) owned by TranquilKitty is a sweet companion they picked up from a local rescue

I've owned cats in the past and just took a while to get feeling like I was ready for a new one. This little fuzzball made herself stand out. She has a lot of energy. Usually when I am trying to sleep. Lia loves to follow me around the house and has learned her name. She can be a stinker about getting onto the counter though and has found a way into one of my reptile cages a few times. She loves curling up next to me in my office chair and the cat tree in the picture is the. best. thing. EVER!
We're working on harness training, but as easy as it is to get the harness on, she doesn't want to do anything while she is wearing it. I'm hoping that when the weather warms up, she'll be ready to go outside.

There are other cats living here, but they aren't my main responsibility. You may hear about them on occassion in any posts I have.
There is
Nuit. A black domestic long hair. He is our mouser and keeps vermin out of our chicken feed. He is an indoor/outdoor cat.
Angel. A tortoiseshell domestic medium hair with polydactyl paws. She is indoor only.
and Rez. A black domestic short hair. She belongs to my sister in law. She and the her little family are dealing with housing issues and cannot take her in the meantime.

My sister in law and I would like for Rez to be indoor only and have tried to make being inside more pleasant. It seems we have done a little to make her want to be in more with new toys and now a blanket that she has claimed to be her favorite sleeping spot. All the cats are fed and provided fresh water inside to discourage indoor cats from wanting to spend any time outside without supervision.

@some-rad-dude
My cat does this. Sometimes with her ear, other times with her leg. It's hilarious.

The people with the kitten never called. I'm really really annoyed by it, but I'll just keep an eye out for a kitten until I find one. I might be waiting until spring since most cats don't go in heat when it's a bad season to raise babies. For now, look at my lovely other two kitties. :)

P.S. Can anybody tell me how to put pictures in my post, and not as an attachment or a link? That'd be great.

Anyone have any suggestions for teaching the commands "walk with me" and "stay"? I seem to be struggling with getting the basics of those commands down with Pepper, haha.

Walk with me is basically just a command to get Peppper to walk by my side, something I want her to be able to do when I start taking her on walks once the weather is more appropriate. The "stay" command is pretty self-explanatory, I just want her to sit there until I call her.

Right click on the image and pick "copy image link" or something similar
Then above the CS text box there's an "img" button. You click that and just paste the image link between the tags

My friend took in a pregnant stray cat. Super affectionate and cute, but she can't keep her and the babies, so I'll be fostering the kittens once they're old enough to leave their mom and my english teacher will be keeping the mama cat. It's kinda funny cause my history teacher has the siblings of my kitten who I just got a few months ago, he was 100% feral and living behind my school with the rest of the litter.
This is that kitten, Sebastian.

first day, when he refused to leave the box we put him in until he decided to hide under my bed and not come out for anything but food.

now, watching littlest pet shop with a five year old.

Training a cat is a new experience for me, but I have been doing as much reading as I can.

Walk with me may require just keeping your cat's favorite treats with you all the time. Keep one in your hand and give it to your cat every time they follow you.
Stay can be difficult. Especially if the cat is young and curious. However, determine a good amount of time for the cat to stay and so long as they do it, reward them for the behavior. My Mom's cat learned a similar command (wait) and isn't really able to get beyond 20 seconds of waiting. It is applied when giving her fresh water or treats though.
If your cat isn't very food driven, you may need to look into other rewards. A toy may work or even just petting them.

Thanks, I'll try out your suggestions!

Pepper is very food driven, she'll do almost anything for treats. That's how I got her used to her harness, after all :P. She's such a silly cat, she'll usually not even do some of her more advanced commands if she knows that there is no treat involved.

Her inability to wait isn't from being young and curious, either, we suspect that she's 5 years old at the youngest. I think my biggest problem when trying to train her to stay was that I'd tell her to sit and then slowly walk away, hoping she'd stay and treat her if she did. Most of the time, it didn't work because she'd just come closer to me and sit down again, as if she was reminding me to give her the treat.

I'm hoping to get a fanny pack to hold treats, soon, too. I think it would be much easier to teach her the "walk with me" command that way.

Ah, cats have always been a part of my life.
We always took in cats who were just wandering in the woods or our yard <3
Our first one was Bean, who's around 12 years old now. She's sitting right behind me <3
Our second is Pumpkin. He's really fat but he loves everyone.
Then we got Wozzie.. He.. he wasn't very smart. When we got him, his leg was really bad and gross. We think he might have been hit by a car :( he was always a little off. He would walk sideways and wag his tail. One thing that was really cute was that he always licked Pumpkin's face. Pumpkin is really aggressive towards other cats, (even if he loves humans) and he really didn't know how to react when Wozzie licked his face, so he just licked him back <3 they were friends.
Unfortunately, we had to put him down a couple of years ago :c he was sick and there wasn't a way to help him.. I still miss him
