To say so is rather prideful. Each and every species is incredibly unique, and each and every individual is absolutely different.

Even if a certain kind of animal shows up more on social media doesn't mean it's overrated. It just means people enjoy seeing them, and as far as cats go, they can be rather entertaining and lighten moods.

Now, just like @Enyo said above, 'ideas' about animals are what's truly overrated.
A dog is 'mans best friend'
Cats are 'always movie villains'
Those two are commonly used and obviously cliched ideas about animals. There are bad cats. There are bad dogs, and saying one species is better than the other is just irritating. I love animals, and I don't believe they can possibly be 'overrated'.

i really like what raven said a while back ^

I agree when it comes to dogs being overrated. I honestly cant stand watching people treat their purebred (not hating on purebreds, just stereotyping) dog like they do a toddler. Like putting them in strollers or baby carriers (I work in retail I see it ALL the time). My local Target actually now allows you to bring in pets, not just service dogs. I'm actually allergic to dogs, and watching them run around while I shop is a turnoff. Now I avoid Target!

I'm totally fine with you loving dogs, I dont actually say anything, it more just annoys me in my head. Then the purebred owners start hating on bully breed owners and blah blah blah

^ Agreed!! I can't stand people who treat their dogs like toddlers or feel the need to bring with them everywhere. My dog is a purebred, but I don't treat him like a fragile little child.
I am a huge ambassador for adopt don't shop, but I got a purebred for very specific reason.

I'm also an advocate for adopt dont shop and I fully understand people who just cant adopt for a number of reasons. I actually adopted a pitbull terrier a few years back and kept her for only 2 weeks. I felt so bad having to surrender her back to the shelter (which is kill-free) but my allergies were so bad. This is the first time I experienced allergies (i owned cats my whole life) and I even went to a specialist who prescribed me medication for it. However even with medication it was so bad, I couldnt possibly keep her, however it was strictly because I couldnt function normally with her around. If I ever choose to own a dog again I'll look for hypo allergic, which is hard to find in shelters and fosters.

I am a owner of a lovely purebred cocker spaniel and I would never treat her like a toddler, but my cousin treats her purebred bichon frize like one and it drives me mad, Lilly (her dog) gets human food all the time, isn’t properly toilet trained and isn’t even had basic training, and my auntie? She doesn’t do a thing, now I wouldn’t say it as in it’s only purebreds, just because it’s not as common in mixes it’s still possible so I half-agree but I don’t think you should say that about purebreds.

Corgis.

They're super cute but can be really hard to train since they're so stubborn. I can see the aesthetic appeal but will never understand the desire to own one beyond "d'awwww, look at their lil wiggly stumpy rump!"

honestly i think corgis and pugs are overrated. corgis are stubborn to train and are usually a one person owner (which isn't good if you have a partner or family) i think corgis are mainly for the "uwu" appeal/ aesthetic (i hate saying that). meanwhile, pugs are also used for the "aesthetic" purposes. pugs also have a ton of health problems and don't live that long (unless you're lucky and they live to be 14 or 15) i say the most underrated dogs would be chihuahuas and pitbulls

Nobody actually hates wolves anymore, nor can I recall any point in recent times where people did. As for the death of wolves by humans: out of the 40% yearly mortality rate of wolves, only 15% of that is caused by humans. Mind you, this is only for Canada, considering that the hunting of wolves in the U.S is illegal outside of special hunting seasons put in place to manage overpopulation issues.
Basically, twice as many wolves die each year to disease and starvation caused by overpopulation than they do to human hunting. They're Least Concern on the endangered species list for a reason.
