I feel the same way, actually. XD There are 6 rats at my local animal shelter, too! But they're all girls. They don't have many pictures though.

So, Tilly and Ellie arn't super tame, anyone have any tip and tricks? I give them Cheerios from my hand everyday and they come running if they hear the sound. I also try to put my arms in the cage so they can climb on then I lift up and we can play.

So I need to get enough money to buy the rats and the cages. If I get all 6 ratties, I will get 3 cages for 2 each.. or maybe 2 cages.. gah.

I really need to decided how many to get.. I love them all though.

The problem is that we are moving cross country this year.. how would I transport them :c
Mom said If I can figure out something soon, I can get them.

Also, they have 10 dollar rats at the pet store, 3 of them.

If all are fixed, why not get one large cage and keep them all together? Rats love companionship.

It sounds like you already have a good thing going c: it will just take some time for them to be super affectionate since they're new. Handle them every day and talk to them calmly, eventually they will come running to you for playtime without the Cheerios.

@SunShy Do you know their age and genders? Like ~•MidnightDreamer•~ mentioned, rats prefer being with others, so you may not have to buy separate cages. That would also be convenient in traveling with them if they all knew each other and got along. I don't know any travel tips though!

For travelling, I have a small travel carrier from Petsmart. Put some of their regular bedding inside then put them in. (Depending on size of carrier, you may have to have two carriers with some in each.)

Then when you stop take them out for a short cuddle and put them back. I suggest not feeding them the morning before you leave.

I have a rat named Bentley that was rescued from a female-only pet store, they were gonna feed him to some kid's snake. I was just curious, though, how many of you have taught your ratties tricks? I've been attempting to train my boy but for the last two years I've seen no results. He's so stubborn, but I don't wanna make learning tricks a stressful or irritating activity... He's gettin' old though, so I don't really see him learning some anytime soon. I guess some rats just cannot be swayed

okay, so all of the rats like each other (they are all in a BIG cage together at the shelter)

okay, I need to find a way to raise the money for 2-3 rats. BTW there are 9 rats now UGH

so I need like 300 bucks.

Woah, #c181c100 for nine rats? Is it because they're from a shelter? Or just the cages? My rats are usually under $10 each...mostly actually under $5 (they aren't feeder rats either, but we usually get the rats that sit in the store for several weeks so the price decreases or we have a good reputation so they cut us some slack for giving the rats a good home).

I just picked up my new males from the breeder today! Horray for rex rats! As if their curly fur wasn't enough their curly whiskers are just adorable :3

So very happy to finally have these guys. Been on the waiting list for almost 6 months.
